Hiya,

Does anyone know? I have to go back to wrk 15th Nov at the latest, and i have to work at least 3 months f/t or pay back the mat pay i am receiving-fair enough.

But what if i get preggers again now? Say baby is due this Nov, if i just stay off and don't go back in between will i have to pay back the mat money or as i am classed as f/t employed until i go back does that negate the need to go back?

is that as clear as mud! anyone?

There are 13 months difference between my two and whilst you can have two periods of maternity leave back to back as you remain ft employed however I had to be back at work (I think from week 26 for 2 months) in order to ensure my 2nd maternity leave was the most it could be. Apparently it is calculated during these months at my work or else I would have got very basic amounts (possibly on SMP). I hope that makes some sense. Def worth speaking to HR first. I spoke to mine anonymously first

Oh ok thanks for the tip.Prob is if i go back, i'll have to go part time (due to childcare) and then i won't be entitled to full time mat pay which is why i wanted to have number 2 so soon.

If i ring HR, they might not be too impressed to know what i'm planning?!

It's a local Government so middlish i guess, it's not a private one

I work for a Local Authority so probably pretty similar. Maybe ask HR for a copy of their Mat Leave policy and see what it says in there.

We had someone have pregnancies like this where I work and I think she was 20 weeks pregnant when she went back and work for 8-10 weeks.
