How do you get the right temperature in the tt flask ?? I boil the kettle and leave it out for a while in the white part to cool, I can never seem to get the right temp, lo feeds every 3 in the day and 4 at night so has to hold the correct temp for 6 hours at least.

Hi, if you don't mind me asking what do you use the flask for? is it to store water so it's ready to make feeds straight away rather than waiting for kettle to cool and boil? I am trying to move away from using ready made milk all the time, my LO is 4 weeks on monday, I am finding the powdered milk difficult, was thinking of using a flask, wasn't sure what others do. Sorry i haven't helped with your question x

Boiling the kettle each time takes too long so I use the flask to keep the water hot for two feeds , cartons are expensive aren't they, tho alot easier

the cartons are fab but definately too expensive, I can't keep using them all the time, especially as the amount of milk she drinks increases. So do you boil the kettle, wait 30 mins and then put that water into the flask? sorry to jump your thread and ask you loadsa questions x

Alot of the time I put it straight in and cool bottle with ice , when I have left it it doesn't stay hot for long enough am looking for someone who has worked out the perfect timing !!

so its for the bottles to mix with the powder? I dont see the point in doing it. You freshly make feeds with HOT water to kill germs, anything less than 70degrees i think it is isnt gunna kill germs. Unless you put just boiled water into the flask it wont be good enough to kill germs. You may as well use cold water

The flask I use keeps the water hot for 8-12 hours. When Max was younger and was waking in the night I used to use the cartons. I also used them for out and about. During the day I used the flask or else boiled the kettle and made the bottle. I used ice to bring the temp down quickly, alongside cold water from the fridge.

my hv told me to do this.. put the boiled sterile water in bottles ready and then warm the water before adding the formula so it mixes ok.

It does stay boiling hot for quite some time, approx 6 hours it's quite good, I do two feeds at night and it won't keep that long

I bought a thermos and then tested the temp at each feed during the night, it was well over 70 at both, I mix in the powder I have already scooped out into little tommee tippee tubs and then put the bottle under the cold water tap for a while, test it several times and serve!
