I'd like to get our parents a wee gift from the baby and am wondering if anyone had anything nice to recommend. It's my in-laws' first grandchild so I suppose it's extra special for them and I'd like to get something. What are the rest of your getting for the grandparents? Thank you

Sorry no help we did not give gifts to others for us having a baby, but did not want to read and run :flower:

I gave my mum a picture of me and my son when he was born, in a silver frame and engraved a message on it.

I wanted to get something for the grandparents as well (from baby) - but it will be a Christmas present - just shortly after he is born. Most likely just a photo from the hospital pictures we're going to get done and a frame, and a card saying "Thank you for taking care of my Mommy when she was sick, pregnant, too big and uncomfortable to do things by herself and doing such a great job of growing me!"

Yes I know a baby in itself is a good enough gift, obviously, and clearly they're not expecting anything, but just wondered if anyone had any cute ideas. Thanks anyway.

Thank you Becky and cantwaitforu - maybe I'll just wait until the little one is here and get a photo framed as a Christmas present. Thanks

I'm getting both sets a grandparents journal and a photoframe which you can put 12 different photos in (so one photo every month for the first year) . But they're going to be Christmas presents.

We're not buying anything for grandparents. It's a nice idea, but we have enough expenditure without adding to it!x

I saw some nice photoframes saying "new grandma" etc in clintons. I was going to put a scan picture in it for my mum but didn't have enough money at the time xxx

I REALLY like this idea! x

I came across this thread and just thought how nice it'd be if me, OH & LO got my Mum & Dad something for Christmas. We decided to not to Christmas this year apart from cards, because we've got so much expense, but because my Mum & Dad have done so much for us, I feel it's only right to get them something! Ooh, going to have a look online now - I love buying gifts and wrapping them :D

As we are buying a new home in a few weeks and what with a bubba and me taking a year off money isnt exactly flowing - or should I say - presents aren't on the top of my list - what I am planning to do - as our bubba will be a november bubba is to get some really nice pictures done - we know a photographer so will pull in some favours - then go get some nice frames - they are always 3 for 2 in boots and then that will be everyones christmas present - I can most probably do the whole of both our entire families and friends for around 200 quid - a result I say - and obviously the time involved = one afternoon in a photo studio - 10 minutes in boots - hubby putting pictures in frames and me wrapping them up lol - 1 day done lol xxxx

as for grandparents - I am giving them a grand child xxxxx

Aww that made me cry a little :)

I'm not giving a gift when the baby is born but for xmas we have got MIL a frame saying I LOVE NANA which I'll put a pic of baby in x

I found a book of stories called "Grandma's Magical Storybook", we will be giving that as either a Christmas present or when baby is born :)
Am hoping Grandma will read the stories to little one.
