GMTV a Midwife says "promoting Breast Feeding is bad"

I havent replied to this thread as I genuinly do not have anything to say on the subject, but I DID want to say that that anti-breastfeeding thread was really, really awful and made me cry :nope: I cant believe someone would think that-its such a shame.

all in all hun i think it said more about them than a mum who bf's, i didnt even read it all as it was just pathetic

True. As I was reading it, all I could think, was that it was written by a Junior High School dropout, who was trying to make sense, but had nothing really to back 'herself' up with. It pissed me off...but in the end, the author is very uneducated and pathetic.

It pissed me off at first but then I just took it for what it is - a big steaming pile of shit.

The end of the day we are all grown ups. Havent read the whole thread and i wont.

Lisa PMSL I agree, its just a wind up merchant with f*** all else to do than stir shit up!!

Instructions don't explain things like ensuring you hold the bottle so the teat is filled so baby doesn't take air in and get colic, or that sometimes there can be a build up of pressure in a bottle which can also lead to colic so quickly unscrew the ring before you give a feed etc. It's these little things that I had to find out by trial and error but could have saved a lot of pain for my LO and listening to hours of crying if someone had just told me to do it from the start.

Thanks for that, I didn't know about the build up of pressure.

There is a certain kind of bottle you can buy that has an easily flow system that stops the pressure build up.

Just think about taking a bit drink out of a sports cap bottle of water, you have the strength in you tongue to draw the water in and contract the bottle a little then the air will gurgle back into the bottle after you stop sucking, but a little baby and a rigid bottle is quite a different story, so they end up swallowing quite a bit of air.
