Dunno if anyone saw this, i only caught the last part.
GMTV were talking about breastfeeding in public this morning and reading out viewers emails. I couldn't believe what i was hearing, they were all except one saying they found it 'disgusting' 'embarrasing' 'uncomfortable'. This was from non-breastfeeding mothers.
It really infuriated me, as i get really anxious at times when feeding him whilst out and always try to be discreet. I'm gonna go onto their website now to look up the full story and express my opinions.

Thought i'd add a link to the article
https://www.gm.tv/lifestyle/families-and-parenting/36038-breastfeeding-friendly-uk.html

I saw it to, my mouth hit the floor when they read out those two emails from the women that said we should stay at home and feed our babies or express all because they don't want to see bf in public !!!!!

I tell you something I have only once bf in public since having Lucas because he was screaming but after watching that im going to do it more often now.

I am quite shy and don't really like doing it in public but I have no problem with other people doing it. Im astounded that other mums can say that, you can kind of maybe undertstand men being embarrassed but women !!

I can't believe it !!!

I watched it while feeding Liv, and was furious as well. Especially the 'women should express' comment. Grr.

I'm not BF but I was watching this on tv and heard that dumb womans comments! I really hope none of you get any trouble BF'ing! If they have a problem they can go elsewhere! Blimey I can't believe some people! X

I didnt see it and am new to this side of the forum as i want to try bf when i have my little one!
But my god thats disgusting what they say! Its the most natural thing in the world!
x

Ive been watching too, some of these comments from women seem very narrow minded. I wouldnt pay any notice because in this day in age if some feel its "embarressing" to see a women bf then imo they need to get a grip because u cant walk down the street without seeing some girl with her backside hanging out a mini skirt so how they feel "embarressed" or "uncomfortable" with a woman doing something so natural baffles me!

i missed it, it doesnt surprise me tbh, i fed first time yesterday in public, in a very busy doctors surgery, the receptionist came over and asked me if i wanted to go into a empty room, which was nice of her bu i didnt want to bother moving and thres not always going to be a private room so i better ge used to it

its back on at 9:15

You know what, hearing all these comments has really really riled me. Me and Olivia spend a lot of time out of the house. I don't drive so we use buses for everything, and therefore the amount of extra time it takes to 'nip' somewhere means we have to feed in public more often than most.

I feel a bit like I'm in a no win situation because even if I feed her in mother and baby rooms, the other mothers in there stare at me as if I'm commenting on the fact that they are bottle feeding their babies, and/or often look very awkward about it.

There is no way these narrow minded people's attitudes would ever stop me from feeding her or going out of the house, in fact actually it makes me even more determined. I really don't give a monkeys where I am or who is near me, if my baby is hungry I will feed her. I hardly wave my boobs about for people to see and draw attention to myself, but for some reason people seem to just *know* what you are doing and like to get a good eyefull and tut.

Sorry for the rant....needed to get it off my chest....no pun intended.

The irony is that many who object, have probably seen many women feeding discreetly in public and just thought they were cuddling their baby.

I've been really lucky and only once have I had a negative response. Two women - mother and daughter in a restaurant on Mother's Day.

makes me wanna go out and breast feed every where just to wind them up!

GMTV seem pretty anti BF to me....it's not the first biased article they've done.

:ignore: Switch to BBC Breakfast for proper news.

i no longer BF as i could not, but i dont have a problem see'ing women breastfeeding in public not that ive ever seen anyone lol i have noticed most places will only let you BF in toilets :dohh: which seems totally stupid i would not want to eat my dinner in a toilet so why should a baby..

Keep up the BF'ing all around town ladys

Thankfully ive not had any negative comments. If ya dont like it then dont look!

I used to be really shy about doing it, even in front of family, now if she needs it she'll get it and I dont give a damn what anyone thinks. They can have a go if they like, I'll soon tell them where to shove it! If my baby wants booby she'll get booby!

makes me wanna go out and breast feed every where just to wind them up!

ditto!! another thing..........I dont want to sit in the corner just cos its out of the way! im sitting where I want!

This really P****d me off this morning and got me thinking about negative comments and they seem to have got more frequent the older Ed has got

And I thought it would get better once that awful biased smug "I only got this job 'cus OH is an important member of GMTV staff" Fiona Phillips left!!!!

Seriously, If you don't like it, Don't look!! Jeez:hissy: We are doing something totally natural, only ignorant people associate (.)(.) with sex.

Hmmm think I have got my point across by sending them this
I am writing to express my sheer disgust at the comments read out on this mornings programme about breastfeeding in public. It is not disgusting to breastfeed a child and reading comments like that are not going to encourage more women to breastfeed if anything it will put them off. People do not frown upon bottle feeding mothers although it is not natural to give a child synthetic breast milk. You as the media should be giving out positive messages to expectant mothers and not broadcasting uneducated views from narrow minded people who should concentrate on something other than the breastfeeding mother who has been shunted into the corner by the general public!!
