Just wanted to say.... I caught this and even though I am way way off bfing (as not even ttc yet!!), I found it absolutely disgusting. It was really negative in my opinion. It's as if they wanted to make it positive but couldn't. They had a lady who had had negativity towards her feeding and Lorraine said about "maybe going to a toilet" to feed the baby!! WTF!! Why the hell should she go into a TOILET to feed the baby!! Crazy! That really pissed me off! I am quite shy and when I bf will find it difficult to feed in public, but it will be even more difficult if people don't start making it appear as normal as it actually is!!

I looked on the website and you can call them to suggest topics !!! I have to go to work today but if no-one else wants to i will call them when i get home later this afternoon.

They will blatantly end up having some chump on the panel that doesn't agree with it !

Its a shame really as it goes much deeper than people finding it innapropriate to feed in public as its one of the reasons women decide not to bf.

The reason people are uncomfortable with it is because they don't see it often, or don't realise they do lol!

100% agreed. Unfortunately in this country bottle feeding is seen as the norm and BFing is like feeding with a few added vitamins. If BFing was seen as the norm and people saw as many women out and about BFing as they do FFing then people would start to not notice it as unusual. When I've taken a bottle out to feed my babies or nephew, I've never had so much as a side glance - in fact I've had offers to warm it etc.

edit - it needs to be like us eating. FOOD for hunger is the norm - what ever that may be. I dont find it offensive if people eat with a knife and fork, chop sticks or ram it in in fists full - It's their choice.

It's like BFing is some "hippy" thing, something a few people on the fringes do. I think it's really important that this perception is changed and that more of us make sure we don't hide ourselves away. We can't let other people's ignorance affect our decision of how to feed our babies. I think BF should be seen as just as prominent, if not more so, as FF. If fear of other people's disapproval is stopping some women BFing then it really needs to be addressed.

I'm all on my high horse now. I have sort of made a personal vow to stop being shy about it and get out there and be seen! I dare anyone to make a comment or even look at me funny!
