going Google crazy about ectopic pregnancies

Does anyone know when a doctor should be able to spot an ectopic pregnancy on a scan....my doctor thinks I'm having one, but couldn't see it on a scan today and I'm between 4&5 weeks......I just want to know what's happening, because im so scared it will go on too long and my tube my rupture....thanks in advance for any help you can offer xxx

no advise hun have you had a scan? i had a scan at exactly 5 weeks as they were worried about eptopic but they could easily see baby was where he was supposed to be. Id imagine if they couldnt see anything then they wont leave it much longer as they can normally see something at 5 weeks

I had a scan yesterday, there was a tiny spot that she hopes is the sac, but could also been a pseudo sac.....I am seeing my doc again tomorrow but she doesn't seem optimistic of good news

Why does your doctor think you are having an ectopic pregnancy? I think probably by around 6 weeks, they may be able to diagnose it but I'm not sure. I just know that I'd had some bleeding and sharp pains down my left side so they sent me for a scan at 5+5 and all they saw was an empty sac so asked me to come back 2 weeks later where we saw baby in the right place and with a heartbeat x

I had this kind of scare about 3 weeks ago, I should have been 8 weeks but they just saw a thickened endometrium (womb all ready but no baby)

They offered me hcg blood testing which came back low at 251, then said that if it came back lower i will miscarry, the same is ectopic and if it doubles pregnancy will continue. Mines completely dropped to 90 and i started bleeding that night.

The cannot diagnose without blood testing if they cannot see anything on the scan they should have really suggested this as ectopics can be fatal to reproduction in the future x

I've been having bloods done every 2 days for the past week, my levels are really Low and didn't quite double the last two times....when I went to the loo Sunday night there was some blood which is why we did the early scan....the doctor said there is blood or fluid outside my uterus. She found something small in the uterus and I am hoping that develops and I'm just a little earlier than I thought......my doctor looked after me when I had my m/c last year, she is great and really wants this to be good news, but has been honest with me and said she believes it is ectopic.

Just got back from seeing the doc, my hcg increased 74% in 48hours and is now at 441......they still arent high enough to see anything on a scan properly, so were going to leave it for 1 week and then do my levels again which will hopefully be above 1500 and strong enough for a scan......im taking advice of another lady on here and im going to enjoy this pregnancy for the next 6 days with no worries because there is nothing i can do at this point thanks for everything ladies best of luck to all of you x x
