I've just got back from my final GP appointment (the one that happens at 38 weeks ish) and he did the normal checks: urine, BP, baby's heart rate, positioning, engagement BUT he didn't measure my bump, just put "=" in my notes, which means right size for dates.

The GP (different one) did this at my last appointment with them as well, I'm pretty sure I've only had midwives measure me.

Are they just so experienced that they can tell whether you look the right size or not or are my doctors just a bit.. I dont know...different?

When i seen GP in first pregnancy he never measured me.

my midwife has never got the tape measure out on me! i guess they can just tell by looking!

Weird... I know it's an inaccurate measure of baby's size most of the time but I'm so nosey I like to know if he really has got any bigger or not.

he may of measured tummy button upwards with his fingers hun, my midwife does it a lot - but i owuld say the midwife has way way more experience in that dept over the gp as they as specialised in that field wheras gps are just that - General Practitioners

I've never seen my GP for an appointment but whenever I see the obstetrician he doesn't use a tape, just has a feel and comes up with a number!! x

hi went for my appoitnment on tuesday and she measured me xx
