Just wanted to share some great news I got today. I have been high risk due to a number of factors, most of all because there is an increased genetic risk of NTD(specifically spina bifida). I got my maternal serum test results back today and:
1:1300 chance of spina bifida
1:35500 chance of down syndrome
1:50500 chance of trisomy 18
What a relief it is to see those numbers. The doctors were so impressed, it was actually noted that my chance of having a baby born with DS is less than that of a 15 year old(keeping in mind risk increases every year!). Now on Tuesday they will be taking an extra good look at the baby's spine in the high risk department and hopefully we will get the all clear on a healthy baby!
I feel a real weight lifted off my shoulders!
