I'm ebf my lo and we seem to be doing great. He is gaining lots of weight and didn't even lose any of his birth weight at his 5 day check. Never had any problem so far with latch and he is really content after a feed. I was unlucky to suffer from mastitis just over a week ago, I caught it early and the antibiotics treated it straight away. Since then my baby has had a mixture of green poos and then maybe 1 in 3-4 will be the normal yellow colour. Hv explained it was likely to be a reaction from the antibiotics I was on ( no harm to baby they were fine to take whilst bf). But the antibiotics surely would be out of my system by now? Another hv also said it could be too much foremilk but he does drain each boob so I'm really confused? I don't think it's anything I'm eating as he's not suffering from wind or tummy ache after a feed. I spoke to doctor yesterday and he said it's quite normal and as long as no blood in the poo not to worry? Any advice please?

As long as you DO get yellow ones I don't think there is anything to worry about.

As you did get mastitis, maybe you have some oversupply, or maybe he occasionally doesn't latch quite right and relies on drinking the letdown only. Some people just get mastitis though despite everything.

As long as LO is contented and healthy, I would advise against trying to "fix" anything. Following your baby's cues is usually the best way to sort out most supply issues. The state of your nipples after a feed usually indicates any latch issues so just keep an eye out for any angled/wedge/lipstick shaped nipples or a squashed appearance.

My LO always had green poo when she had a cold.

Thank you for that, actually he does have a cold aswell so maybe that has something to do with it like your lo?

Just incase it is FMHM imbalance, try breast compressions during a feed. It will unstick the hindmilk from the alveoli in breasts. Adding unsat fats to your diet will make the hindmilk's fat healthier too.

My LLL leader told me that as long as baby is consistently gaining weight that green poos aren't something to worry about. Could just mean that baby is getting more fore milk in the mornings and hind in the evenings.
