Ok had my GTT done today, felt rubbish as you do from not eating for so long drink was alright tasted better then any of the others iv had done,
anyway 2 hrs later get second bloods done then go have some food but I sat in waiting room while partner went and got me something had that and then I was badly sick didn't even make it to the loo's and threw up all over the floor (sorry for TMI), both me and the MW have got a feeling Il fail the GTT but didn't say anything else about it,
what happens if I do? Iv googled it and it says Il have to do a 3 hour one which Im going to refuse as Its really made me ill,
has anyone on here had to have a second GTT and did you refuse if
so what happened?

Edit they also measured my bump (fundus) and im only going on 27 weeks and it says in my notes am 29cm but they didn't say anything is it normal to measure big at this stage? I know they are not accurate but just curious

I failed my hour glucose test so badly my result was off the scale so they didn't bother with the 3 hour test they made me have my bloods done 2 hours after eating my lunch instead - might be worth requesting that instead? I only had to fast before my 1 hour test, I was allowed to drink water / black tea and also drink after downing the glucose drink too. I would think you were sick because you had absolutely nothing in your stomach - that's enough to make anyone ill!! Doesn't mean you'll fail the test though, I only felt sleepy after drinking the syrup and failed :) as for fundal height, the measurements are +/- 2 cm for your week of pregnancy so for example you are 27 weeks so a measurement of 25-29cm would be an expected fundal height, at 26 weeks mine is 28 cm and this is perfectly normal!
When will you get the results?

will ask if it can be done that way if I have to have another hope not,
the reason she thinks il fail is because iv a lot of diabetes in my family and have been having lots of pregnancy problems, she explained it better and in details but I was very dizzy and light headed and don't really remember everything she said but she did also say it could be my iron levels so hoping thats it
should get a phone call tomorrow morning if theres a problem fingers crossed for no call

thought fundal hight might be normal cause they didn't mention it they just checked to see if they could tell how he was lay

I had mine today and felt very faint and sick during the 2 hours and afterwards.
When I got home, I slept for 3 hours and I still feel rubbish now.

What makes you think you would fail because you felt sick?

no its because of other things to do with wee etc but cant remember what she was going on about as i was throwing up in a bowl at the time gonna ask at next appointment lol

I had min yesterday, I felt a little queasy and the lady said I could only sip on water and have nothing else. After it was over I went straight to Maccas and got a Frappe with a bacon and egg mcmuffin AND hotcakes... felt a little better but I was worried about how much sugary crap I was injesting.

After lunch I had a nice bath and some pizza and felt much better :) having said all that Im back to fruit and porridge today!
The poor little guy has been kicking up a storm :-/

I failed my first one and have diabetes in my family so I was quite disappointed! I did do the 3 hour and passed with flying colors! The end I was miserable, and I was scared I was going to fail because as soon as my husband and I got in the car, I felt sweaty and dizzy. I felt like I was going to faint until we went and had some lunch! If you don't want to do the 3 hour, you could ask to monitor your blood sugar yourself. My Dr's office, if you refuse they treat you as GD :(

Im not sure if my sickness is down to my GTT now, i snacked on fruit and yogurt yesterday which felt fine so later I asked OH to get me something to eat from takeaway and I couldnt eat it it started to make me feel ill but baby was being his normal self and kicking around spinning etc so gonna see what happens today and just stay light foods again

if I fail am happy to monitor my sugar levels just not happy about having another GTT just in case it was that that made me ill
