Also the OB or GP can do a lot of testing that falls within "accepted insurance coverage" over a RE is necessary. all im saying is to check all avenues :)

Does anyone have any experience within the UK? A lot of responses on here refer to insurance but we have the NHS in the UK X

Im in the UK i had my first appointment on the 30th Jan and have my second one in 2 weeks times :).

I have had blood tests this month ready for next appointment xx

Thanks. I had blood tests already to diagnose the pcos, so what's next x

Well I had my first test with my RE. He was very nice. Told me three miscarriages in a year is not normal, duh! But at least I am getting pregnant. He did a ultrasound and so far all looks good. He ordered blood tests for the second day of my AF and then when he comes back to my area next month he is going to do an Saline Sonohysterogram. I'm quite a bit nervous about that. Unfortunately, since he is only here once a month, I may have to go on Birth control pills for one month to keep my uterus lining thin or something. I guess the test is usually done the week after AF arrives, but he won't be able to see me until two weeks after. I'm curious to see how all my blood work turns out. I'm happy so far he hasn't put me on Clomid or any other meds, I really hope not to have to take these, but we will see. Anyway that is where I am now.

I asked about any special fertility vitamins for my or DH and the only thing he recommends is prenatals for me. He said most of the other vitamins are a waste of money and can mess things up for people with normal cycles. He said DH should just take a regular multivitamin too. Also, NO IBUPROFEN or other NSAID's, which sucks because I had a root canal two days ago and I am in so much pain. I do have vicodin though which he said is better than ibuprofen.

Good news is he said my insurance will cover all the tests he is doing!

At my first appt i only spoke to a nurse, she sent me off for a hormone tests on cycle day 21 and then again on cycle day 2. She asked a load of questions and DH done a sperm analysis which came back great so we've established the problem probably lies with me if there is a problem. My next appointment is with my actual consultant and the nurse said i have as much time with the consultant as i need. Some couples spend up to an hour or two asking questions so its all free time really. Then the consultant will tell me my latest blood test results and probably refer me for more tests such as scans and stuff i'd imagine. Then hopefully find a solution to my problem xx

Good luck to you!! Me and my hubby have been ttc for 2 years now and have had no luck. When I went for my first appt I was so excited and nervous all at the same time. For me it began to become frustrating as I went test for test and all came back with positive results. They had no answer as to why we haven't conceived. I was referred to a fertility specialist and my doctor there has been wonderful. We are planning on going through with an iui after 2 more cycles if there is no BFP. Hopefully your doctors will provide you with hope and positive answers!! Baby dust!!
