I had my HSG yesterday. I'd spent some time researching what it might be like and was prepared for something very painful and traumatic. Anyway, it was a walk in the park!! The only bit I felt was the speculum going in and coming out, and absoloutely nothing else! Both my tubes are clear and uterus looked normal.

Because I am ovulating and nothing else has been found wrong with me I am going to be referred straight for IUI. DH has questionable sperm count with 2 normal and an abnormal result under his belt!!

I would love to hear peoples experiences with IUI, positive and negative, so I can get some idea of what its all about. Does anyone know what the NHS waiting list is like? Or how much it costs to go privately?

Massive thankyou's in advance XXXXXXXXXXXX

I know A.G has a beautiful little newborn boy thanks to IUI.

Wishing you lots of luck.

I have no experience with IUI, but had an HSG. I'm glad yours went well and everything is clear.

Glad your HSG went well....mine was terrible. Best wishes!

Hi Caline,

I also had the same experience as you and was surprised at how well my HSG went. I was just wondering how long you have been TTC and what other things they tried before IUI? Did you manage to see someone straight after your HSG, I have to wait until the end of July for my results, although the radiographer said they looked ok to her. I came off BCP 3 years ago and have been TTC for over 2 years. I am also ovulating and all other tests have come back ok, so wonder whether IUI may be suggested next, fingers crossed.

Good Luck

Good luck with IUI! I've done them in Canada - so don't know what the UK procedures are. Will they be medicated? I did 8 IUI's 6 of them natural and 2 with clomid. They are painless and quick.

Good to hear that the HSG went well Caline - I have mine booked for tuesday and have been dreading it.
Good luck with the IUI. xxxx

Hi Sprat,

I hope your HSG goes well. I found the speculum quite uncomfortable but once that was in place I just started slow deep breathing and concentrated on keeping everything relaxed, and it was totally ok. Try not to worry as I worried for 4 months (had to cancel the 1st one), for nothing.

Let us know how it goes

I'm glad your HSG went ok and good luck with the IUI. I had my HSG on Wednesday and it was virtually pain-free until I got home and the cramps started. Ouchie!!

We were put on the IUI waiting list about 2/3 weeks ago and were told that the waiting list in our area was about 9 months. Not sure if that's average but it might give you some sort of idea. Good luck!!!! Let me know if your waiting list is shorter than ours and let me know what to expect!!!!!

xxxxxxxxxx

Oh, 9 months. Thats a long time. I have heard that its not that expensive, so we might look at paying. I'll let you know when I find out.

Hi Caline.

Did you find out costs for private IUI? Our consultant has told us there is no provision for IUI on the NHS in our area so we'll have to go private. Either that or go to IUI if the last few rounds of clomid don't work....
