My Martha Stewart Encylopedia of Sewing and Fabric Crafts arrived yesterday - it's fantastic. For a complete beginner like me, it's comprehensive and easy to understand, but with lots of different projects for those who are more experienced too. Well worth a buy for a present to yourself or as a present

Now to get started!

I made some bunting, was really easy.

I used a basic cotton with a Christmas pattern, and appliqued on red felt letters.

I printed out my letters from the computer and used them as a cutting pattern.

When cutting out the flags,I used pinking scissors (zig zag) to stop the edges fraying.

I used my sewing machine to attach the flags to some gold ribbon, but this could easily done by hand.

For my next one the message will read 'This House Believes' or 'Santa Please Stop Here', I can't decide yet. I might hang it in the front window :haha:

Some pictures (sorry don't know why I can't rotate them!):

I make stuff every year :)

Used to use salt dough but I use fimo now (polymer clay)

Here's a link to one of my gingerbread houses :)
