Has anyone taken their child to the 20 week scan?

Our hospital dont allow it and ive seen people being turned away as they brought there child with them.

We took DD, but she started playing up about half way through, and the ultrasound tech went really nasty about it! I wouldn't of minded if she'd of asked DH politely to take Amelia out of the room, but she was so rude about it.. Made the rest of the scan rather awkward and uncomfortable. Xx

We're also not allowed to bring children with us. I would check with the hospital first.

We don't usually take our children with us but in my last pregnancy I had a phonecall the morning of my 20week scan asking if I could go and be scanned earlier as they were short staffed.i had no problems being scanned earlier but asked if I could take my then 2.5 with us as we didn't have a sitter for that early on in the day..they were fine with it

The letter said they advised against bringing children but didn't explicitly ban them. My friend took her 2yo to hers at the same hospital and they let him in but her partner had to take him out part way through as he was too disruptive.

We took both our dd with us as we had no sitters and my oh wanted to be part of the scan too. Our girls are 4 and 2 and the 2 yr old was getting restless through the latter part so the sonographer just asked nicely if the girls could be taken out for the last 10 so she could concentrate and get all the measurements she needed.

I've taken my 4 yo daughter to all of my scans. She is completely in awe of her little sister. My husband works from home that day, and we make it fun for her. "First we're going to see little sister, then we're going for lunch!"

She then asks questions to the Dr., such as "Are you going to check my baby sister? Is baby sister ok? Is mommy ok?"

Personally, I feel like we go through it all as a family, and I love the support of my daughter. I also feel like it makes it more real for her, and let's her come to grips with the fact that it's not going to be just her for too much longer :)

My kids are so nonchalant about me being pregnant, I don't think they'll take any notice of the scans. And yes, they'll be coming.

I went to 2 midwife appointments WITH them and they still had no idea I was pregnant, they are so wrapped up in themselves! I only just told them the other day. Thomas just said something like "what will I name it? How about Bluey" and Sophie lifted my shirt up to see the baby and was confused when it wasn't there. They haven't mentioned it since.

The only scan they don't want children here for is a dating scan, for some reason. Scanning places here are not hospitals though, they are their own separate business/building and are quite nice really, there are no doctors and the staff are always kind.
