No way!!!!! You weight gain is absolutely perfect! I will be thrilled if I only gain 9 pounds by 17 weeks. Last pregnancy I had gained 12 pounds by 13 weeks, but honestly even that was fine. I was eating a ton because I was starving, but I was eating healthy food and I really think that your body knows what it needs. Yes there are people who take this opportunity to eat ice cream and Taco Bell every day, but if your eating reasonably well most of the time then just follow your body. I gained 40 pounds last pregnancy and had 15 pounds to lose after the baby was born. Within 5 months all the baby weight was gone and I had done zero exercise and hadn't really tried. I think my body just knew it needed that extra weight at the time. Personally I think it's best to focus on eating nutritious food most of the time and not worry so much about the amount of food or weight gain. Anything extra will come off after birth. But again, your weight gain seems right on for where you are at!
