I am very concerned... my levels on monday were 704, then 48hours (exactly) later they were 899. I was feeling nauseated for the past few days - but now- nothing.

The only thing I still have is sore Boobs and the typical crampy/stretchy feeling. Not real strong cramping but just movement. No spotting or bleeding - yet.. but I am beginning to think I may miscarry...

I am SO SAD! I am 5 wks, so 899 for 5 wks isnt good either, but worse is the fact that it only increased 20% in 48 hours. I can't believe it.

Has anyone else had slow rising HCG??

Tina

I'm bad at HCG levels but didn't want to read and run. I've heard that as long as levels are in the range (they don't have to be high) and they are rising, it is a good sign. I will pray for you! :hugs:

I'm sorry I don't know enough about this to be able to answer your post - but how do you know what your HCG levels are? Who tests them?

They don't always have to double, as long as they are rising that's a good sign. :) :hugs: nothing is ever for certain, all we can do is hope for the best :hugs:

I'm really sorry hun they don't have to double within 48 hours but they should really be close to doubling for a viable pregnancy.

has your doctor discussed this with you, as slow rising hCG can be a sign of not just miscarriage but also an ectopic so it is important they give you an ultrasound asap!

of course there could be a chance that everything is fine, but it's far better to know!

good luck xx

I was told that a 60% rise is used as the marker, but also that any rise was a good rise! So confusing!

:nope:
I was just wondering if anyone had any advice or perhaps a miracle story that may make me feel a little better. After 5 yrs of trying we had IVF this resulted in a positive pregnancy we were over the moon of course. On friday we went for our 7 week scan to be told nothing could be found on the ultrasound. HCG levels were taken and were showing a pregnancy. The fertility clinic sent us to the hospital where the levels were monitored again, HCG levels still rising. But nothing showing on ultrasound or internals scans. yesterday hospital called to say HGC levels have dropped from 368 to 260. no bleeding no cramps no pain this does not sound good does it. can anyone offer any advice?

Tina, 899 is excellent for 5 weeks. When I was 5 weeks, my number was half that.

The important thing is not the actual number, but whether it is doubling every 72 hours or so. That's for most pregnancies, but not all that eventually pick up and go on to full-term: https://miscarriage.about.com/od/checkinghcglevels/f/hcgdoubling.htm

I have several friends undergoing IVF and I was also about to start IVF later this month - I know how worried you must be.

To be honest, HCG levels dropping is not a good sign. Has your clinic scheduled you in for more tests?

well - just had another blood draw - will have results in the morning. Say a prayer for me - this may well be the indicator - if things don't improve significantly I may be in trouble.

I haven't felt a lot of nausea - I have moments of unease and food aversions, smells, and fatigue. All of it is a drop in the bucket compared to what I had with my first pregnancy - so I am concerned that the levels just aren't climbing.

I am leaving this in God's hands. It's up to him, i just pray for the strength to make it through whatever happens.

what is the saying? "let go, and let God...." I am there now.

Hi Tina I also posted on your other thread. I am with you on the "let go..Let God". I am so nervous with this pregnancy. I have no realy sypmtoms. I do go wee a lot and my bbs seem tender sometimes but do hurt really. I am so constipated(tmi) but I have been on my prenatals for over a year so I can't blame them. My levels at 10dpo were 33 and 13dpo were 222. Dr said that was good for not even being 4 weeks. I will keep you in my prayers as well

Hi Tina.. I just went through the same thing. After a lot of research though, at 5 weeks you really should give it 72 hours to double. I did not want to believe them when they said it may not be viable. In my case my levels were 3600, 48 hours later only 3900. I held out hope until I started spotting 10 days later, by that time my levels had dropped to 3200. After my denial passed my body finally let go.

Don't give up! I scoured the internet forever looking for answers, and some ladies' numbers never double. My ER doctor went so far as to say that as long as they were rising, it's a good thing. I'll say a prayer for you! :hugs:

hello everyone. I wanted to post yesterday but as the days pass it gets harder - It's almost like I am afraid to get attached in a way.

My draws were at 1700, from 899 - which looks decent except that it took 5 days to get that. It's like a tease. high enough of a jump to give hope, but too low to feel some confidence.

They have scheduled an ultrasound for Thursday. I was reading that when numbers hit 1000 that it can take up to 4 days to double, which might put me close to where my numbers are.

I just don't know what to think.

Thank you for the support - I am sorry I am not posting much more. My heart is in my shoes at the moment, and am not up to giving much more. Part of me feels that if it was a LOW jump - or a revert - that I'd have better handled it because I'd have expected it was over and prepared myself for that. These little bits of hope - well - I don't know.

Take care all..

Tina

Tina hunny we are in the same boat so I feel you pain, I have spotting on top to top it all off which is lovely!

But don't lose hope hunny, hopefully you will see what you need on Thursday. xxxx

Tina I am right there with you. I woke up this morning not feeling pregnant at all. I am going to take a hpt and I have a feeling my lines will be lighter even though I have been getting really dark ones. I think the only thing that has kept me from bleeding is the fact I am on progestrone. I will be prayiing for all of us. Please keep us posted hun. We are all rooting for you and your bean. All of our beans

I am having further tests on Thursday to check the HCG levels again, i hope everything goes well with your IVF cycle if you have any questions i might be able to help. im not an expert but I have been round this once already.

Yes honey I had a few of them. They found the gest sac and yolk sac, but never identified a baby.

I hope you have a better turn out. :hugs: Chin up babe.

Thank you everyone!! I did some reading (ok - 'some' is an understatement!) and if I am right, I doubt we'll see much on the scan. I think it takes an hcg of 10,000 to see a heartbeat, so At least I know that and won't get my hopes up too high. I don't think we will see more than a sack at this point, so I have to prepare myself for that. My guess is that this scan is to confirm it's not ectopic first and foremost.

Thank you all again!

Tina

Hey,

I just wanted to add that I had this happen to me with my 2nd pregnancy I had a light period lasting one day and thought that was odd we were getting ready to go to an amusement park the following weekend so I had decided to take a test. It was undoubtfully positive I booked an apptmtn with my Gp they said 2 days but for now go get bloods done. I went and got blood work done my levels were only 540 or something around that number, low. The gp said that it was fine number didnt mean much to hima s long as I wasnt spotting or having any problems. Anyways. i went into the er a couple days later because I was having some pains on my right side and thought for sure ectopic. They prepared me for the surgery , and when my levels came back they dropped to 400 range. They said well dosent look like an ectopic, refused me an ultrasound sent me home in preperationg for a miscarriage. I went into my docs a week later for bloods they were a whopping 1700 range. My husband and I were throught the roof!!!! I went for an u/s found out i was 9 weeks pregnant , numbers didnt add up but there was no bleeding and there a flickering h/b of only 130 so it could go either way , well sure enough next bloods hcg was down again. 1200 this was a significatn drop where i pretty much prepared myself ofr a msicarriage. next bloods was 2500 , i was so confused.. anyways . 15 weeks i started bleeding heavily they sent me for u/s right away at hospital what was happening is my placenta was becoming detatched then attatched then detatched that was the reason fro the number i ended up having to have a d and c at 15 weeks!!! I wish they could of diagnosed that before 15 weeks because it was hard holding onto hope that long.

So if i were you id be demanding ultrasounds left and right if you have no answers by bloods. Because i never spotted or bleeding at all. Even though i always prepared myself for a miscarriage after the bloods it never happened ultil 15 weeks when the placenta detatched completely!!

I hope my story dint scare you I just wanted to share my experience with holding onto hope with numbers fluctuating!

good luck!!!
