I've never had issues with heartburn or acid reflux pre-pregnancy so I'm not sure what this is. I have a burning in my chest and sometimes my throat. It started a couple days ago off and on, but now it's constant. It even woke me up and kept me up last night.

Any advice on which it is and if there is anything I can take for it? If there is even the slightest chance I can take anything for it, I will be calling my Doctor to let them know what's going on and see what she recommends. This is miserable.

Thanks for the help. :flower:

I was the same with my first one! I never had it before, but the minute I'm pregnant again it comes back full force.
I take Gaviscon for it, my OB said it's completely ok. It's a chewable tablet and I think it comes in liquid form too, but it works IMMEDIATELY. I mean, literally, immediately. It's a little expensive ($12 for a bottle) but it's a lifesaver. I keep it on my night stand since most of the time it happens at night. I think it comes in regular or cherry flavor. :)

I grabbed some tums on my lunch break and they've already helped! My next appt is next week so I'll ask my Doc about Gaviscon or anything else she recommends. Thank you! :hugs:

It's pretty common. There is an old wives tale that says something in regards to baby having a lot of hair if you have heartburn. Really though as baby grows all of your insides get pushed up in places they aren't use to being so it makes sense that you'd have issues with reflux/indigestion/heartburn/etc. I can't go to bed without taking tums first. I am sorry that you are uncomfortable. Other things that are safe during pregnancy are Maalox and Mylanta. Some ladies do take Pepcid or Zantac but personally I would talk to my doc before starting either of those. Some other things to do are to avoid spicy, greasy, or acidic foods as well as coffee and chocolate. I sleep on 2 pillows at night to elevate, a few times I have been woken by reflux and ended up getting sick. I hope that at least some of this is helpful. Good luck finding some relief!!!

I get this all the time hon. It was actually my first pregnancy symptom! I'm like you and have never had it before. Sorry to say but it gets worse further into pregnancy due to your squashed stomach :( I don't use tums or anything but apparently that can help. I usually just have some yogurt. Having a bit of dairy, something liquid like, will create a layer on the top of your stomach and will help stop the acid rising into your throat which is what causing the burning, about to throw up feeling. Hope this helps xox
