Am I the only woman who gets nausea when my period is due? It can be up to a week before AF actually arrives. It's effecting my life, am sick and tired of my periods.
My doctors and gyne has told me that it's all normal but I can't work and I can't leave the house when my period is due, how is this normal?
I've tried every contraception to try help my periods but everyone has failed. Progesterone only contraceptives I just bleed constantly, non stop. I can't have combined because I suffer from migraines and they won't let me have a hysterectomy because of my age and the fact I don't have children.
My OH isn't ready for children so that isn't an option either.

Help please! I feel like giving up completely :(

Hi, sounds awful. I don't get sick just sore around time of month. Can you be referred to a gynae? What about the coil?

I was referred yes and basically told have a baby or have a coil. I really don't want a coil after bleeding 13 months straight from the POP so wanted a break from meds/hormones.
But I don't know how much more I can take, if I had the money I'd be having a hysterectomy privately as soon as possible

I'm thinking this is starting to happen to me! My DS is 13 months old. But with my period this month I've been nauseous 24/7 for the past four days. I have the nexplanon bar placed in my arm. What exactly have they done for you? Because if this doesn't get better I'm definitely going to need to figure something out!

I've had all the scans and tests for PCOS etc and all came back clear. So they decided to put me on the POP which left me constantly bleeding for over 12 months straight. I can't take combined pill because I suffer with migraines.
The specialist said if I tried the implant or coil the chances are I'd constantly bleed with those too beens they are progesterone based.
As for the sickness they haven't done anything, I keep getting told that my pre monthly symptoms are normal. Yet everyone I've asked has said they don't get it this bad.

It's effecting my life, I can't go out or leave the house until at least 4 days into my period because I feel dizziness and faint.
But now the specialist and GP has said there's nothing else they can do for me unless I have a baby, which isn't going to happen.

Hi! That sounds awful. :-( Have you checked your vitamin status? I was having issues related to my cycle last year (slightly different symptoms though but seemed to be hormone related) and my doctor suggested it was PMS and to try a high dose vitamin B6. Apparently that's used to treat severe morning sickness as well, so may be worth a shot? I take 25mg (in the form of p5p which is more easily absorbed, I use the Swanson ones) in the evening and I've been symptom free for about 9 months now, don't even get period pains anymore.
I'd also suggest you try to come off any hormonal contraceptives. They used to make me feel sick as well and I felt so much better after I stopped.

Other than that, maybe try some traditional morning sickness tricks? Ginger tea or biscuits are meant to be good. My secret weapon in pregnancy were sour lollipops!

Hope you find something that works!

Could you try Angus Castus/Flaxseed (Linseed) and well woman vitamin supplements? I looked into all those for hormone regulation and PMS reduction. I haven't done it myself yet but could be worth a try? X

Sounds awful. I have a freind who used to throw up and faint because of period cramps but that was pain related and I think she had POCS. She did get better eventually. I wonder if anti sickness tablets would help?

I think I'm going to have to try anti sickness pills. I'm on B6 and evening primrose to try help with the symptoms but I think I'm going to have to the doctors again and see if he will reconsider the hysterectomy route b/c nothing else seems to be working at all and I'm mid-cycle again and starting to feel ill already :(

Sorry you are so rough again. A hysterectomy as a last resort in younger women because it can have a lot of knock on effects on your health. I hope you find a solution.

Yeah I think that's why my GP really doesn't want to go down that route. Period's seem pointless to me seen as I probably won't have children anyway, but contraceptives just leave me with severe side effects or permanent bleeding. Whichever way I can't win :haha:

I can't do hormonal contraceptives either so I sympathize with that part.

I know my mum had a hysterectomy (although she was older). She really struggled with hormone imbalance after. It also seemed to trigger blood pressure and heart issues. The operation itself took her about a year to really recover from. Of course I'm sure not everyone has the same experience.

It is a major operation that they won't do lightly - Don't be surprised if they refuse outwright.

I was in WTT with you a long time ago - is your partner still not any closer to changing his mind then? X

That operation is a bad idea period. I know you are suffering, however I just hear you mentioning doctors and pills and operations.

I HIGHLY suggest. And I mean HIGHLY suggest you 1. See an acupuncturist ASAP. Acupuncture seriously balances the body. 2. If the acupuncturist is an herbalist, even better. I feel you could really benefit from holistic treatment. If the acupuncturist is not an herbalist, find one immediately. 3. Seek out a naturopathic physicians.

For you to feel your only option is a hysterectomy, you are seeing the WRONG medical care providers.

You do not need to have an operation to remove your reproductive organs. I can just about bet you will be worse off. You would have to be on synthetic hormones forever after that. Our bodies are much smarter than any modern medicine, it is all about tapping into it.

I think I would be refused to be honest. I've been refused the dozen times I asked previously :haha:

No the OH isn't any closer to being ready. I honestly think he doesn't want children, but he doesn't have the heart to tell me, no matter how many times I ask. All I ever get told is "one day"

Sorry to hear that. And you are okay with not having children because of him?

I honestly can't imagine my life without him, I've never wanted children with anybody else. I suppose if I have to sacrifice children for him then that's what I've got to do. But if I resent him in year's to come it's something we will have to live with :dohh:

i really feel for you :hugs: i get nausea and a very sensitive sense of smell before AF so i understand how debilitating (if that's the word!) it can be. they sound like such minor symptoms but they really have an effect on your life! :( my PMS is pretty severe, i was prescribed mefenamic acid which is a painkiller for it but it didn't help with the emotional symptoms that i have. it did seem to help with the physical symptoms though, maybe that's worth a try?

my PMS symptoms are so bad that i often think about having a hysterectomy too :hugs: last time i went to the dr he prescribed me antidepressants to take from ovulation to AF but i took one one day and felt awful so stopped, they made me feel even worse.

thanks for this post, i think i'll give B6 a try! :)

I have known people who have had success with acupuncture to regulate cycles and af symptoms so that might be worth a try too.
