I'm due to go back to work on sept 3rd 6 months after I went on maternity leave! I'm not 100% I wanna work for them anymore and I think I want to become a home carer! I got payed 90% pay for first 6 weeks the SMP since then! Can I just hand my notice in and not go back? Or do I have to pay any pay back to them?

Also can I go for an interview with this new job whilst on maternity and still employed from my other job?? I'm confused lol! X

Hi, I'm also soon due to go back to work and will be starting a new job on my return. In answer to your questions, no you won't have to pay any of your Maternity pay back as long as it was all statutory (90% pay included in statutory) I would just hand in your resignation with your contracted notice period prior to your return to ensure you get paid all your SMP. And yes you can go to interviews for your new job, I did :)

Hope that helps and made sense lol x x

Thanks hun! I just don't wanna hand my notice into my current job until I know I have the new job?? Iykwim? X

O I deffo know what you mean! My resignation is already typed up and I'm just waiting on the confirmation of the new job and it will be in the post :D x

Also you will get any accrued holidays from your old job, so make sure you claim this from them!

Also I think SMP goes for nearly 9 months (39wk?) so that will stop if you take your holiday or get a new job.
