Help! Which spelling?

Me and other half has had our name since we knew we were having a girl,we are going to call her Esme but we want it pronounced Esmay.

We are stuck between these 3 spellings,which does everybody prefer?

Esmae
Esmai

I would have pronounced Esme like that anyway, but of your spellings, I prefer Esmae

People will be able to pronounce Esmé, but some will always get it wrong. My name is Nicola and I still get people spelling it wrong!

I agree with this, Esmé is a gorgeous name and is intuitive to pronounce I think.

I'd stick with Esmé - it is a simple enough name to pronounce, IMO, and it's the way most people tend to spell it. Otherwise you risk your child having to spell her name out to everyone for the rest of her life.

I like the original Esme....it's pronounced Ez-May. I think most people know this.

But, if you want to alter it...I think Esmae is the best. I think Esmee makes it sound like Ez-me

if i was having a girl i was going to go for Esme and had the same dilema wondering if people would pronounce it Es-ME rather than Es-MAY. Esmae seems the best option so it isnt said wrong however i still prefer the original esme version. Esmae seems easiest maybe x
