Help with essentials list please?

Hello all!

Now, I know I'm leaving it all a bit late but I think it's the only way I can cope with doing things and making sure I've done it properly. This is my second child and I kept nothing from my daughter - well her moses basket and a few "little" bits but nothing major (oh and the cot). With our DD we never knew we were expecting up until 28 weeks pregnant so bought what we thought we'd need and picked other bits up along the way. This time however, we've known since day 1 and I have NO idea what I need to buy...

Can anyone please help me compile a list of "ESSENTIALS" ?

Even if you add 1 thing to help would be fantastic... I have just over 9 weeks til the big day and I think it's time to get organised.

if you mean in general start with the basics

sleep
travel
eat
clothe

build a list from there of what you need for each thing, babies dont really do much more initially anyway lol

or go through an average day in your head of what it is like with baby, write down everything you use lol

I mean general stuff for baby. I will sort hospital bag after baby stuff but am planning a home birth so will sort hospital bag as a last resort.

This is essentials list I got from Emma's diary

Things you definitely need

* Cot (plus mattress, sheets and blankets)
* Car seat
* Pram buggy or travel system
* Six sleepsuits/ long sleeved suits
* Six vests/ short sleeved suits
* Two cardigans/ jackets
* Shawl or snow suit
* Hat, mittens and bootees
* Changing mat
* Nappies
* Bottles/ teats/ bottle brush (only needed if not breastfeeding)
* Nursing bra and breast pads
* Loads of bibs
* Loads of towels/ flannels/ muslin squares (for bathing and dribbles!)
* Loads of kitchen roll and cotton wool pads
* Brush and comb

Things that are handy, but not essential

* Moses basket/ crib (plus mattress, sheets and blankets)
* Baby bath
* Baby box or bag
* Sling
* Bouncy chair
* Baby monitor
* Changing bag
* Steam steriliser
* Breast pump
* Baby lotion
* Baby wipes
* Bath thermometer
* Nail scissors
* Nappy wrapper

I'm sure people who have had kids will be able to give you a better idea of the things that you really should have and the bits which are just handy.

1 x nightie for labour
1 x dressing gown
1 x eye mask
2 x totes socks
2 x nursing bra
36 x maternity pads
8 x pair of breast pads
1 x dark bath towel
1 x dark hand towel
4 x contact lenses
2 x maternity mats
Make up bag - concealer, mineral foundation (and brush), blusher, bronzer, highlighting powder, eyelash curlers, mascara, lip gloss, lip, balm, mirror
Toiletry bag - face wipes, moisturiser, toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, breath freshener, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, serum, rechargeable straighteners, hairbrush, hairband, sponge, flannel.
Going home outfit
Arcos - fully charged (with splitter)
MP3 player - fully chargered (with headphones)
Digital camera with memory card - fully charged
Mobile phone - fully chargeed (with credit)
4 x bags of crisps
1 x haribo
1 x wine gums
4 x chocolate bar
1 x pack of shortbread
3 x bottles of water
10 x teabags
1 x bottle of cordial
Small bag of sugar
Small bag of instant coffee

For hubby

1 x T shirt

1 x underwear
2 x pairs of socks
1 x magazine/book
1 x headphones (to use with arcos)
Tolietry bag - toothbrush, deodourant, body wipes, pro plus
Mobile phone fully charged (with credit)

For Flump

6 x sleepsuits (1 with no feet)
2 x pair of socks
1 x snowsuit
1 x car seat
1 x toy
6 x pairs of scratch mitts
3 x hats
1 x going home outift
4 x muslin cloths
20 x nappies
1 x bag of cotton wool buds
1 x baby wipes
30 x nappy bags (for dirty nappies and dirty clothes)
1 x blanket

LOL! I'm am quite odd! I'm one of these people that would rather be over prepared than under prepared. I'll prob end up not using most of the stuff, but at least it will be to hand if I want it.

It's Russells Hall hospital in the west midlands, it's a new hospital so it has tonnes of facilities which is lucky for me as i've only just moved house and the other hospital I was under was a shack.
