Hi ladies :flower:

as the title says, i would love some help or tips on how to kick start AF.

i'm sick of having to wait MONTHS for my period to start!:growlmad:

i have PCOS, so i get horribly long periods. therefore it's kinda stamping on my TTC efforts. so i was hoping someone here could help me out with advice on prompting AF so show up. :flower:

Would the doctor not give you anything? I have heard of people taking agnus castus to kick start a period, I am currently taking it to try and regulate my cycle. Good Luck xxx

angus cactus? i'll have a look for it. where do you get yours? x

Go to your doctor and ask for provera.. i just got af after a 101 day cycle

my gp isnt prescribing provera until i get over 90 days n get bloods done

well the dr has decided that my avrage period is 204 days... so he won't give me Provera until i've gotten to that! by my gynae was on the case he gave me a prescription for 3 months worth of provera for kick starting af if it didn't come after 64 days. but now that we've hit the pause button on the FS for now i'm not getting the same treatment etc. so i was wanting to find a herbal way to help.

i was told that if i drank 3-4 cups of parsley tea per day for 5-7 days AF would arrive by the 7th day! but that's not worked and parsley tea is RANK!!! BOKE! but i did it cos i thought it would help. yuk! lol

Provera worked beautifully for me and i only took one pill lol I got weirded out and stopped taking it but it was just enough progesterone to kickstart af. I have pcos too. I also heard prometrium just went generic and that will help bring on af too

 Bodog, welcome to the dark corner of LTTC!! Glad to see you over here! :flower:

I've no advice other than hearing what the other ladies of mentioned for PCOS. Oddly enough, I've heard of BCP regulating out a PCOSer..but I doubt that's what you would want to be on. Almost seems contradictory.

i've been in here for AGES! but i took a break from pretty much all forums except the GS, i was going a little nuts with seeing people who have been TTC for 3-6 months posting about hoe difficult it was etc. so went on radio silence so to speak.

yeah my GP tried to put me on the BCP, but then i pointed out that my aim was to get pregnant, not prevent it! it never ceases to amaze me that doctors can be so smart and so dumb at the same time!! :dohh: :haha:

how have you been getting on my lovely? :flower:

Really? IMO, GS was getting too Baby Club for my likings. I can't be bothered with TTC #1 section, with those girls moaning about how it's taking them eons to conceive.

I certainly get what you mean about doctors. Even though it's all private in the US, some of them are just complete idiots! How did they even pass the med boards?! It really makes you question their credentials.

Meh, just my usual pessimistic self. Seems I hurt less if I have negative approach on everything baby related. I'm pleased to see you're feeling better. It seems as if your absence did you a bit of good. Sometimes, you just need a break from BNB.

Like the other girls said, typically the doctor's first course of action is to give you some sort of progestin, usually provera or prometrium.

If you're wanting something more natural, parsley tea is supposed to be a way to induce AF. It didn't work for me, but it worked for my mom. I think ginger is another one that might work. This is the site I found the info on https://www.sisterzeus.com/Parsley.htm

yeah i kinda saw that happening myself, but i'd taken to hover over the title line to read the first few lines to see if it was safe or now... and i thought the GS was meant to be a sanctuary... but there is the odd thread in there that i get sucked into because it's funny! lol! but i've kinda drawn back from the GS too. i'm mainly following a couple of threads anyway... AndreaFlorida's testing like crazy thread, the alternative facebook status thread etc. lol

and i've been keeping an eye out for your posts too ;) stalkerish! lol!

i get what you mean about being pessimistic about the whole TTC thing. but i'm over that stage now i think. i guess i'm more  meh whatever. i'm kinda at the point where i've resigned myself to whatever happens. you know?

i'm off for a colposcopy on the 24th so i was really wanting my period to come before that. but i guess it's not going to happen, well knowing my luck it's going to be while i'm just getting my feet in the stirrups that i'll get my visit from AF!! i'm getting embarrassed already! LOL! :haha:

xxx

i remember feeling like that...

yep... back in 2008 when we had ttc our first cycle. i had regular periods for the previous 6 months so i was feeling pretty good about it all, then that first cycle went on for 266 days!!! that's just 99 days shy of a year! :dohh: i'd had provera on CD 79 which didn't work, DC 180 i tried it again, that didn't work, CD 230 i had a scan and found i had 2 cysts on left ovary and 1 cyst on the right. they were about to rupture and i finally had an answer as to why i was passing out with pain. so on CD 238 i was taken in and had the cysts drained - one was removed, the other 2 were drained.

2 days after i had spotting then on CD 266 af showed up! finally! i will always remember the relief i felt when it came. and that is the one cycle that i think will stick out in memory, as it was our first TTC cycle and i ended up waiting almost a year! and i spent a FORTUNE on HPT's!!! :haha:

what Cycle day are you on?

my last one was on 23rd march
had my US , nothing major but harmones r imbalance
i am not taking metformin bcoz i dont want to take it for life, trying for 6 months with herbs only before i go for full med stuff
i started losing weight n awfully my periods got irregular lol

angus cactus? i'll have a look for it. where do you get yours? x

I get mine from Holland and Barratts- it is currently on buy one get one for 1pence! Google it, there's a lot on the internet about it, you can see if it is for you then. Good luck xx:D
My periods are irregular, the first month I took it, it brought my cycle from 57 days to 40...I am on my second month now and on day 30 x

what strength do you get, and how do you take it?

i tried soy isoflovines, they were meant to help ovulation (similar effect of Clomid) but it's also meant to help shorten long cycles, and help with luteal phase if its to short. but that didn't work. :(

It is 400mg- take 2 capsules twice a day. Only on my second month but so far so good. Keeping my fingers crossed. After ttc for over 2 years without even a sniff of a bfp, I figure anythings worth a try!! Xx
