Hi daughter will be 6 months on the 18th and she seems to have suddenly gone off her milk over the last month or so. She used to drink 7oz bottles 5 times a day no problem. At the minute we are struggling to get her to take 3 to 4 oz! She sits up half way through the feed, pushes the teat out and screams or bats the bottle away if you try to put it back in! She used to guzzle down her morning feed after sleeping straight through for 12 hours. Surely she must be hungry after 12 hours! We began to wean her last week and she now has a couple of spoonfuls of baby rice/porridge mid morning and a few spoonful of veg/fruit puree at tea time but always after I have offered her her usual milk feed. I'm worried she is not taking enough milk,I have now resorted to dream feeding her when my husband and I go to bed to see if I can get a few more oz's down her. Anyone else having similar problems? Help!:

Hi hun. My DS went through those phases several times. She could be teething or more interested in her solids. Omar dropped his morning feed since we started weaning. He prefers to have his breakfast then his bottle after 2 hours. Once she's 6 + months she needs 18-21 oz of formula to get the nutrients she needs from it in addition to 3 solid meals. U can offer her dairy like cheese & yoghurt to make up for the dropped milk feeds. Switching to follow on at 6 months also helps as it has more vitamins & iron & tastes different. We switched at 7 months as Omar was refusing to take any milk feeds & he liked it much more than stage 1. As long as she looks happy & alert, there is nothing to worry about hun. xx

Her bottom 2 teeth are visible and have been for quite a while although they haven't cut through yet. At the minute I don't think it is the solids she is more interested in because she will only take a few a few spoonfuls. She started going off her feeds a few weeks before we began weaning her. I'm taking her to be weighed on thursday and think I will feel more at ease if I know she is still gaining weight! She is content and happy between feeds and doesn't seem to be hungry. xx

Between 5-6 months Omar was only taking 10-15 oz & we were really struggling. He wasnt even having any solids. At 6.5 months he started to take around 15-18 oz & then we started weaning. His max formula intake was 24 oz (4 bottles 6 oz each) at 4 months

it never affected his weight gain. He was at the 82 nd percentile at 6 months. If she's maitaining 20-24 oz it should be fine xx
