There's TOO many to choose from, I'm lost.

I don't know if I should get a wooden or plastic one. If it's worth getting a hight priced one.. I don't know

Which highchair would you recommend?

I love the ikea antilop. Its really easy to clean and cheap. We did have a fancy padded one, but all the grooves in the padding were a magnet for food.

Our main highchair is a wooden one from east coast. It's ok but I find it difficult to clean as there are lots of nooks and crannies and the straps don't come off and are really difficult to clean! Out back up highchair is the antelope from ikea and I really like it. It's really easy to clean and very cheap!

We ordered a wooden one that converts into a wee table and chair for her. My friend had the same for her daughter and she loved it. She used the table for drawing and playin at until she was 3 years old. If its uncomfy for her at first i'll buy a padded one too, but hopefully itll be fine x

I got the mamas & papas pixi highchair. I thought it was mid-range price, easy to clean, has a harness which is washable, the tray comes off easy and clips onto the legs for storage, folds almost flat and its easy to clean and looks nice!

I do love the look of the wooden ones, they've been my favourite.

I really like this one - https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/70202405/#/70202405
but it doesn't fold so I dunno if it's practical.

It took me a while to pick a highchair too! In the end we decided on a plastic one as it has more options available (reclines, removable seat padding for easy wash, storage underneath the seat..). The problem we saw with a wooden one is that they're not really suitable for a smaller baby, or one who can't sit up stably and my daughter couldn't until 8 months. Plus, on most the padding is extra and a cushion material, which I can't imagine is easier to clean. Wooden ones are also harder to store. Plus, I noticed many don't have straps. I wish I could recommend a brand but we got ours here (Germany) on Amazon so I'm not sure if it's much help but this is the model type anyway:

Something like this one perhaps: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Chicco-Happy-Snack-Highchair-Seventy/dp/B000T1OK7Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1348656853&sr=8-1

Anyway, hope that helps! Good luck! :)

Forgot to add to my post, the mamas and papas pixi is good for up to 3 years of age too if you're interested

We got on in the Asda baby event for Logan. It was around £20 quid and is still in good enough condition to use for Rory. I don't think its necessary to get an expensive one xx

I love the ikea antilop. Its really easy to clean and cheap. We did have a fancy padded one, but all the grooves in the padding were a magnet for food.

Same... Love love love this highchair... It comes apart easy too so when we visit family it fits in the car easy :-)

I think it's the best for cleaning, as a pp said grooves and fabric gather muck, the antilop cleans so easily :-)
You can also get a cushion that fits into it for when LO is young... We don't use it for dd anymore but it was handy in the beginning :-)

I have the ikea one too, it's fab. We have the inflatable cushion so LO has been able to sit in it for a while.

Hey! It's hardwork isn't it? We just went for a mamas and papas middle of the road one, it looks nice and cheerful and does the job! It was £40.00 in the sale. One thing someone said to me b4 I bought one was watch how much space they take on the floor when in use.... Some of them stick out for miles! They have some really really lovely fancy ones but they can be quite pricey and do exactly the same thing..... Would go for one if money wasn't an object though! Hope that's of help! xxxxx

Hey, we got a baby bjorn appetite and love love love it!
Rrp is 180 tho so a bit pricey but kiddicare price matched it to 118 that we found it for after a quick google!
Its totally plastic with metal legs and has no harness (it doesnt need one as the tray holds baby in)
My little man bounces in it and it hardly wobbles and its so easy to clean. It takes up hardly any room and we can just throw it in the car if w need to take it anywhere.
I got rid of a height adjustable, reclining, padded big and bulky one to get this and it was the best change ever for us!

IMO, it's best to get one that is:

--plastic

--that rolls (it makes it easy to clean up, and to move baby around room--if daddy wants to feed him/her, and then mommy wants to).

--that can slide back so it's on a slant if your little one doesn't have great head control yet.

--that has a tray on it that you can take out for easy washing

--that has cup holders

I think ours is one that you can use from infancy to toddlerhood.

PM me if you want me to take a pic of ours. We love it. I don't think you should get the most expensive one...you just need one that is safe, and that fits your needs. It might be prudent to get a sturdy one (even if it's more money) if you're planning to have another baby in a couple of years.

I have a bright stars space saver. Cheap, small, portable, easy to clean and gets the job done!

Thanks everyone, you've been so helpful. I'm gonna go for a plastic foldable one that's not too pricey, just have to pick a design I like :haha:

I'm another vote for the ikea antilop! After seeing how messy weaning (omg its messy!!!) is I think people have to be crazy to get anything padded or fancy lol.. I honestly have no clue how you clean them properly

The antilop is cheap, you can hose it down lol, the tray removes, its easy to bring to relatives houses, and I know there is no hidden foood growing anywhere in crevasses :haha:

We bought the Mamas and Papas Go Eat after using it in a restaurant. We previously had a cheapy Mothercare one and I hated it. Absolutely love our M&P one. It costs over £100 but worth every penny. So comfy for LO. She always wants in it even when not eating. Its worth getting the right one as they use them for a while x x

Get the Ikea one!! I have cleaned literally hundreds of highchairs over the years (worked in nurseries) and the fancy wooden or padded material ones are a pain to clean. The ikea one is soooo easy a few wipes with a cloth or wet wipe and it's done.

No idea why people buy fancy ones that tilt back ...why would you need that ? if they fall asleep lift them out!
