Check your actual earnings..........given that they ask for your National Insurance number etc?!?!

Last year we got no award, so I applied fresh this year - that was the start of May. The 1st to be exact I posted that form off.

Then last weds got a form through asking us to confirm earnings for 2011 & 2012 - saying this was to renew the tax credits.

WE lost last years p60s in the move so have to call up HMRC to get this info. To then call them back to tell them it! Why cant the left hand speak to the right?!?!?!
I will THEN have to tell them about Ewan being born as that takes us into the 2 children thing and a higher limit.

Also.....if we ask for them to calculate this years payments based on this years wages.............how does that effect next year??

They have also stopped my child benefit for Emma..........and an give no explanation as to why....

This really annoys me too. I'm currently trying to get our finances on the straight and narrow and I've noticed I have to give my NI number to a lot of places.

I've earned NOTHING since Feb 2012, so my earnings are absolutely zero (obviously there's benefits and things but they don't count apparently) and yet, they still insist on my sending in a form saying that I earned nothing, despite their system probbaly knowing better than me!

My other issue is with the housing benefit people. They take flaming ages to come back with a 'yes' and then start paying you, but when it's a change of circumstances agg! We've had an increase in income, therefore we're highly unlikely to still be entitled for the next few months. I've told them this, twice, but they're still paying me. Chances are just as I get back on the straight and narrow I'm going to get a bill from them saying I've been over-paid - No shit sherlock! I've rung them twice and asked to pay it back immediately but they've said that until my assessment is complete they wouldn't have anywhere to send the money. So I've paid a big chunk off my council tax with it! Oh and I keep getting bills from them saying my CT isn't up to date, but they keep sending me money for HB.......can't they just take the money I've been entitled to (about £800 a year) off my CT bill (about £900 a year!?) I don't get it!

Arghhhh...I feel for you, I really do.

Also reminds me I need to do my renewal. lol

This does my head in as well. My income has been really complicated over the last while, due to being a student - a couple of different jobs - losing my husband - and several new entitlements due to being a widow. ALL of this goes through HMRC, so you'd think they could figure out the tax credits based on what they already deal with. I'm not looking forward to next financial year end
