ok so since i weaned LO off his bottle he hasnt wanted to drink milk out of anything else. i say weaned, i just stopped giving him a bottle and he didnt seem to miss it. the HV said as long as hes getting a pints worth of milk per day in his meals its not a worry he wont drink milk anymore.

however slowly but surely hes gone of anything containing milk. first he wouldnt touch hard cheese, then he wouldnt eat yogurt or custard type desserts, now hes getting fussy about his cereal in the morning and wont drink the half fruit half milk smoothies i used to make him that he used to love.
hes not really getting any milk intake at all right now:nope:

any suggestions on what other foods or methods i could try?
hes not wasting away. luckily hes a healthy boy in the higher centiles. im just starting to panic as im really hoping this is a phase but its been getting worse over a few months now. im feeling a bit desperate now

Cottage cheese? Tomato or potato type soup made with milk? Adding milk to oatmeal is hidden very well. Frozen yogurt?

Megan loves her dairy products more than any other food... So it's hard to imagine what her life would be like without cheese, yogurt, and milk!

You can buy chewy calcium suppliments for kids... Ours are shaped like gummy bears.

Almonds and almond milk ("Milk" made from crushed almonds) are loaded with calcium.

Thick porridge where the milk is hidden?

Or melted cheese ontop of pasta etc - Tom won't eat pieces of cheese or even grated but melted into a tomato sauce with pasta he loves.

If its the calcium your looking for, green veg has a ton it in. Search the internet to see what veg has calcium.

^^^^ this is a good idea.

We give lo's porridge as much as possible so they get about half a pints worth of milk in that each day!

What about soft cheeses on bread etc

Did you try plain yoghurt? Omar doesn't eat flavored or fruit yoghurts but he likes the plain one.

Best Of Both bread has a massive amount of calcium (I think it's half the daily recommendation for kids in one slice)

Learnt this from the dietician this week

Also the doctors can give you a supplement, or there is liquid calcium in asda

I have a list of juices, foods etc that can really help that I will dig out tomorrow for u.

Macaroni cheese? Cauliflower cheese? Rice pudding?

I was a baby (from 6 weeks)/child/adult who wouldn't take any dairy, in any form (and still don't often) so my Mum was good at inventing ways to get it in me. I grew up eating a lot of dark green vegetables and this was perfectly acceptable too for calcium absorption.

I made lo leek and cheese muffins they can with a sweet chill dip they can have them as a snack or with soup or a little butter on lo hates cheese but will eat these. If you want the recipe pm me x

there are so many food items out there loaded with calcium!! and there are alot of milks like soy, rice and almond that have heaps of calcium in them. That's not just a snotty vegan talking you can find this information anywhere.

If you google caclium for vegans you will find tonnes of dairy free things that give you calcium.

Here’s some calcium-rich foods to try: spinach, collard greens, kale, soy milk, fortified orange juice, sesame seeds, tahini, broccoli, almonds, carrots, and rice milk. Be sure to shake your soy milk and orange juice before drinking, as the calcium can settle to the bottom.

Both spinach and broccoli are great sources of vitamins  If you can get him to eat them that is haha.

things like soups and porridge and runny desserts are out as hes also going thru a phase where hes to lazy to use a spoon and he wont let any one spoon feed him. im hoping thats anither corner well turn soonish as he CAN do it himself!

theres loads of options for me there tho. thanks ladies. i think out of pure panic im going to look at those suppliments today but ill def change bread and look at adding more of the calcium rich foods to his lunch and tea. i think we can also shake up snack time with some of those options too so hopefully well kill two birds with one stone. i feel much more positive now.

thanks everyone.

tahini paste is a really good source of calcium because it's made from sesame seeds which is a HHHUUUGGGEEE source of calcium try some of that on toast, just little bits here and there is all you need.

Milk jelly?

But what others have suggested is probably better in the long run :)
