Is there an easy way to find out if my area does a recycle collection?
I want to start seperating the stuff but first off I have a tiny kitchen so was thinking space for boxes would be a pain.
But the main problem is I have never seen any form of collection for this, no one has ever had the boxes out to be collected and the normal rubbish goes into a comunual bin area and collected on Tuesdays.
I dont drive so taking it someplace is out (getting out to the comunual bin area is pain enough as its the otherside of the flats)

How do others get around the space in kitchen problem?

Have you tried your local councils website? x

have a look on your councils website. we have a wheelie bin that gets collected every 2 weeks. i use a carrier bag & hang it on a kitchen cupboard, then just empty it when needed but having said that my wheelie bin is about 1metre from my front door. :haha:

I tried looking through the website but tbh its useless.
After digging through loads of gumf about how to stop your rubbish smelling and cleaning out your bins I finaly found this.

All households are provided with a light green recycling bin for recyclable materials. Recycling is collected every fortnight from your property. Your bin should be placed on the kerbside by 6am on the day of your collection with the lid firmly closed. Excess recycling must be placed in a clear plastic bag and left by the side of your bin.

Problem is im assuming by households it means actual houses, we are a flat so have no garden to keep one and never been given one.
There has never been a collection that iv seen apart from normal rubbish and there isnt a kerbside to speak off, the bin area is the other side of the flats near a small car park.
So im assuming this collection info is more aimed at houses on streets sort of thing.
Id ring them but you get just as much sense out of them in person as you do from the website :)

is there not a bin specifically designed for recycling over by the other bins? it seems quite odd that there isnt, i thought everywhere had them these days.. xx

Ring the council and ask, only way to get a definite answer.

No, just the normal huge 6x6 foot sort of size wheelie bins.
Our last place that was a flat was like this as well with just huge wheelie bins for normal rubbish and nothing else.
Im guessing this is normal for flats.
Probably explaines why we have collections every week though, to make up for the extra amount that recycling would have reduced it by.
