Hi ladies,

I'm currently scheduled for an HSG on November 21st, which I thought would be CD 10. They will only do HSGs between days 7 and 10, and because there is a public holiday here next week, the only day that they are open is the 21st.

So, my problem is that since my doc has prescibed Progesterone for me to take, I thought that meant that AF wouldn't come until Friday when I planned to stop taking the progesterone. But today I started spotting. If AF comes tomorrow, that means I'll be on CD 11 on the 21st and I'll have to wait another month to do the test! Is it possible to get AF while on progesterone suppliments? And if so, should I take an extra dose to make sure AF doesnt come till Friday?

I hope this post makes sense- I've tried to make it clear!

Hi - I was told they only do them between days 7 and 10 too but by the time my AF showed up it was CD11 when I ended up having the HSG - I dont think it matters that much. It all depends on when you ovulate really - what CD do you Ov normally? I was usually CD16 so I knew that I'd be fine to have the HSG on CD11 (as I still had 5 days to clear the tubes of the dye before an egg was released).

Also even if you Ov earlier and dont go for the HSG til CD11 then you could just not DTD that month (i know its a waste of a month) but if you wanted to be sure the dye was all out of your tubes by then it might be an option.

As for progesterone - i cant help there - never been on the stuff.

Good luck anyway

I know they like to do HSG's in the early part of your cycle but I had mine done on Monday and I was on CD12 and there were no problems.

Yes you can bleed on progesterone sups.i dont think one day will make much dif.you may still spot untill you stop sups.

Thanks so much for the information, everyone! I'm glad to hear that others have had HSGs later than day 10. I really didn't want to wait another month. I usually O on CD16, so hopefully it'll all be fine even if I have the test on day 11. :)

I had mine on CD 15 (they prefer to do it on days 6-10 but will do it later) so if you're over by a few days it should be ok.

The reason they want to do it during those particular days of your cycle, is so they don't interfere with a pregnancy. Just make sure there's no way you are pregnant, and you're good! Good luck to you - I got a BFP 10 days after my HSG!

I think you should be fine on day 11. As the other ladies have said, its about making sure they do te tets before you ovulate. If you know when you ov and are well clear of it then its not a problem.

The hospital may be a bit strict as some dont seem to understand that we can possibly know when we ovulate!! In that case you could just say it is day 10 to make sure they dont make a fuss as you know yourself that you would be well clear of ov.

Good luck!!1
fluffy xx
