How do you guys prepare your bottles? I have read a lot of moms outside the US boil water to sterilize, then add the hot water to the formula powder to kill the possible bacteria in the formula, and some add cool water to this to rapid cool the bottle.

I've never heard of this being done. Here in the US I've only seen mom's use tap water or water from a water cooler.

I am EP'ing now, but am going to start combi-feeding this week then eventually moving towards FF.

So, just seeing what other US moms are doing! As I am reading all the preparations on here, and thinking I'm doing it all wrong!

I sterilize my bottles after washing and I prepare formula for each feed fresh by pouring purified bottled baby water into a sterlized bottle and adding the formula powder. I did use ready to feed formula until my son was 6 weeks old, though and that is sterile.

I boil my tap water and then put it in a glass container. I use that water during the day...put it in the bottle and then add the powder. I was my nipples and bottles in hot soapy water between feedings. Every now and then I will reboil everything to sterilize.

I use mineral water frm sams club and add similac sensitive powder to it. Also I boil all the bottle sand their parts once a day. I gave her ready to use 2 oz bottles till 8 weeks as there is no worry of contamination in them.

I use the avent microwave sterilizer to sterilize the bottles everyday. When it is time for a feed I pour nursery water in bottle and add similac sensitive powder and swirl it to mix it up. It's then ready to go!

I just use Gerber water that sits on my counter.
I've only sterilized bottles once, and that was when they were first bought.
I just wash them with soap and let them dry on the bottle rack.

I follow the directions on the formula container. My daughter was not premature and doesn't have a compromised immune system so I mix her formula with room temperature tap water. When she was younger I mixed it in bulk batches at 158 degrees and stored it in the fridge for the day so I wouldn't have to make a fresh batch each time. Now that she is older I feel her immune system is developed enough for me to use regular tap water. Our water is also very clean and has normal fluoride levels, so I'm not worried about her getting too much fluoride.

Thanks for your responses! I called my Dr. to get recommendations, but no response yet!

We arent in the States, but we are US military stationed overseas & we use US formula. I sterilize my bottles every time with the Avent microwave sterilizer and then use cooled boiled water to mix with the formula.

I'm old school, so I boil my tap water (its free) let it cool. Then I pour the desired amount in the bottles add formula..shake:haha: I usually make my bottles the night before cause they are good for 24 hours.
