I put it in here instead of the formula section because BF'ing Mummys who express may use electric sterilisers.

Do you buy the descaling powder specific to sterilisers? if not what do you buy or use?

I dont buy specific ones for my sterilser, i just bought a box from boots and used them  xx

Thats what I mean specifically labelled for sterilisers.

Pain in backside I always forget to pick them up and not sure if I can use anything else.

Is it the same solution you can use to sterilise the bottles coz i went Asda earlier and they said that or lemon juice :dohh:

I just let it soak in lemon juice for a while then wipe with hot water - gets most of it off!

I use lemon juice or white vinegar.

HTH.

Yeah you can use lemon juice

Or that white/clear vineger stuff, ive used it to descale a kettle before so assume it'd be ok on a steriliser?

Mine came with a few sachets of "citric acid". sounds pretty scary but must be ok
unsure what can be used instead

I've used the stuff that's for it but TBH I dont think it's worth it. I'd go with vinegar or lemon juice too. :)

Lemon ...just thet squirty stuff you put on pancakes? lol Do you turn it on or just leave it to soak for ....??

x

with the acid you turn it on for 2 mins, and leave to soak for 30. then run a cycle with correct water but empty x

I'd just do it the same as with the crystals...like Sammie said. :)

Edit - oh and fresh or Jiffy lemon is ok

We used the cystals that came with the it and they have just run out so went into mothercare and they said that they can't keep them on the shelf anymore as people as druggie are using them so they can only order them if they ask you a series of questions first!!! but when we did get them in the post they didn't work very well so i wouldn't recommend them.

princess_bump told me about the descaler they sell for sterlisers in boots so i bought that, the water where i live is so so hard and i have to filter it before putting it my kettle. they say washing machines here only last 3 years due to limescale damage.

the sachets were only 2.50 i think for 3 sachets so will do the full year as only says to do it every 3 months.
