It doesn't bother me so much as they can call their kid what they want but it does bother me when they moan about people mispronouncing and mis-spelling it. Wtf do you expect?
Yeah, agreed. My surname has a few alternative spellings and yes it is irritating having to spell it out the whole time, but that isn't other people's fault, I can't expect them to psychically know which way it's spelled.
The irritating thing is that my OH has an unusual surname what anoyes him is when he spell's it out for them, they still spell it wrong. Why ask how to spell it and then write it out wrong anyway?
melbo, i think i'd spell lylah like that anyway, looks more like it sounds iykwim?
Talking of traditional spellings....I remember Jack and Jill went up the hill....not Jack and Gill![]()

When people inadvertently then give their kids completely different name meanings by trying to put their own unique take on it with spelling like in your example...that makes me laugh! I shouldn't I know
Errrr wasnt it you that was laughing at the way people spell their childrens names?!
Do people really care about name meanings these days? Wonder what Amelie means![]()
