How do you pronounce

My name is pretty obvious. it is Bianca - although I think the funny thing is that the mother of my oh has always such an aw sound in it , but that probably just her safrican accent xD
(so it sound liek bee-awn-ca) but after all my oh also sounds more like Mork than Mark too xD

I am still gobsmacked at the fact that people on here have the gall to comment on how people might choose to spell their childrens names.

It might be your choice to use a common spelling of a name but who the Hell are you to judge someone who chooses to not follow the crowd and either make up a name or chooses to spell one differently.

I resent immensely the implication that I am 'chavvy' because I changed the spelling of the name I wanted for my son.

I normally live and let live on this forum but some comments on this thread have really got my back up.

Isn't it also judgemental to say that choosing a traditional spelling is following the crowd?

Calm down, no one is judging. If I personally don't like really convoluted made up spellings then who cares? No doubt some people don't like Irish names, like my daughters. I've even had people on here say they don't like it. Do I care? No.

People are allowed to have different opinions. No one is specifically targeting someone out and saying their child's name is crap. It's a general opinion. My personal opinion is I'm not a fan of a name like Tyff mentioned absidy (ABCDE). Caiden to me looks like a normal spelling. I haven't seen anyone on here telling you they don't like your sons name, nor have they said you're chavvy so no idea why you're getting upset.

noone was saying they dont like the spelling of your LOs name, what they were saying is they personally, in their opinion dont like it when people change the spellings of names just to be "different" or "cool". if someone choses to spell a name differently to the norm cos they prefer it, then fair enough. its the people that go "omgz lolz i iz gon2 spel mii kidzz name lyk dis coz itz well diffrent lolz" that people have a problem with i think

My name is straight forwards but when i was born Tracie was the weird way of spelling it.. even now it is.. i hate it when people spell my name wrong drives me nuts!
My little boy was gunna be called Kyran ( kai - ran ) rhymes with byron... but thats now how you tradidionally spell it... its spelt cyran but i prefer the K.

Hahahaha! Yes that's exactly what people are getting at IMO. Like the chavs who spell like 'lyk' and sorry 'sorri' etc. Not genuine variations like Aidan/Aiden Caiden/Caidan etc.

Oh chill out! It was only our personal feelings on the matter and we stated as much. It wasn't about your kid. His name is fine. It's easy to read and pronounce and is fine. No-one said it wasn't. Sorry I have to say stop being so touchy. Personally I meant comletely random letters and totally unphonetic just for the sake of trying to look cool, like "Jyrdynn" or whatever they're coming out with these days. That just complicates life for others and the kid and for no good reason at all. That was my only point

When people inadvertently then give their kids completely different name meanings by trying to put their own unique take on it with spelling like in your example...that makes me laugh! I shouldn't I know

Errrr wasnt it you that was laughing at the way people spell their childrens names?!

It doesn't bother me so much as they can call their kid what they want but it does bother me when they moan about people mispronouncing and mis-spelling it. Wtf do you expect?

i have a very straight forwards name and ppl still spell mine wrong :(

Think probably because Tracy is the more common spelling.

Don't worry people constantly spell Amelies name wrong. My OH is Stefan and he gets Stephan ALL the time.

Yeah, agreed. My surname has a few alternative spellings and yes it is irritating having to spell it out the whole time, but that isn't other people's fault, I can't expect them to psychically know which way it's spelled.

The irritating thing is that my OH has an unusual surname what anoyes him is when he spell's it out for them, they still spell it wrong. Why ask how to spell it and then write it out wrong anyway?

i havent once seen katie's surname spelt right! and i can guarantee that the one persont hat spells it right will spell her christian name with a y!

i have my 16 year old sister's friends on FB, you get used to it

What is it lately with offensive 'opinion's'

Everyone is entitled to them, sure, but you gotta think before you brand anyone who spell's their child's name differently a 'Chav'.
I'm offended by that to be honest.
The word opinion is used too loosely, 'I can say what I like, when I like, regardless of who I offend because it's just my opinion... You are a big fat ugly slob, but don't be offended, it's just my opinion'

A bit of tact is needed sometimes I think.

:(

Who said chav/chavvy? Did I miss some posts? *goes back to read*

Oh, and Lylah is a beautiful name hun :)

If I'm being totally honest. I can't stand names that are spelt differently to the normal version. I really don't see the point and think its quite a chavvy thing to do just to stand out.
What's wrong with just calling you kid its name with its normal spelling, stops people mispronouncing it and means your kid can actually spell it when they learn to write and not get their name or everyone else name wrong constantly because they are different!! EG: jadan ~jayden, jaden, jaydan, jaedan, jaeden, jaedyn!
The English language is meant to be pronounced a certain way therefore pronounce it that way or speak another language because you might as well if you think 'aa' should be said 'ae'!!!

Rant over - I'm going to go hide in the corner until everyone likes me again....

I agree.

I wish I would of spelt Hallie's name 'Halle' now though because of the sheer amount of people that call her Hayley. At the time though I was scared of people pronouncing Halle like Belle and thinking her name is Hall.

But the other downside is if handwritten, people think the 'a' is a 'o' and she is called Hollie!!

Can Not Win!!!!

:(
