People keep saying they can see a penis in my 13+6 ultrasound, is that right?

As far as I'm aware 16 weeks (I have a private scan booked for next week to find out gender) I also know someone on here who found out privately at 14 weeks! At my 12w4d ultrasound I swear I saw boy bits very clearly but this wasn't confirmed as sonographer said it was too early but I'm 90% sure it's a boy!

At that stage a girl can appear ti have a penis why in uk they dont scan before 16w as they aint fully formed until this point.

So that sticky out bit on your scan can still go either way.

It does look like a penis in fairness and it probably sounds ridiculous but I feel really disheartened just knowing in my head it's a boy. I already have 2 boys and someone saying it's definitely a 3rd boy just feels like I know the sex and I wanted to stay team yellow and just predict :(

Would it still be a nub at that stage? I'm so confused as to whether the privates are formed

The place that did my scan at 14 weeks told me boy, although they don't tend to check prior to 16 weeks, as it can be difficult to tell for certain.

However, if they are confident enough to say they saw boy bits, they should be right. But don't go shopping crazy until your next scan to be sure!

My follow up scans (had quite a few) still say boy, so was right for me.

You could be having a girl it really is still 50/50 guessing on scan at that stage.

Take a look here :

I know the place I'm hoping to get my private scan at does gender reveal at 15 weeks but I'm going in at 16 weeks because of a time issue or I'd be there next weekend xD
I thought it would be a good gift because it would have been on my DH's birthday and right before Fathers day but he doesn't seem to care much :/ and wants to go out of town so we have to wait a week.

It's just people guessing, but the more they point it out the more I feel my surprise is basically ruined by the sonographer giving me a shot like that at that stage :growlmad: wanted to stay team yellow.

Picture i see in other section i cant see no nub on it.

Enjoy your team yellow time its magical :)

I have another picture, I can't post it off my phone though :(

I had mine at 15w0d and it was very clearly a boy!! No doubt about it!

with DS#2 I had complications and went to ER and end of 14 weeks. it was clearly boy and I indeed had a boy. I had Verifi blood test done this pregnancy at 12+2 that revealed I am having boy #3. I think that going by scans in week 12 and 13 the sonographer can guess based on the nub theory, but it's not as accurate as the 20 week scan would be. I wouldn't start painting the nursery quite yet.

We already know it's a girl, but we want video and photos as well. The imaging studio I scheduled an appt with starts at 14/15 weeks, but prefers 16. We having it done at 15 weeks.

Its really not 50 50 by 14 weekz with gpod equipment, a developed baby, and a good sonographer. yes girls will still have a nub, but with a good view a nub does not look like a penis amd scrotum. 12 weeks is still early but closer to 14, and its quite reliable especially with a potty and profile nub shot combined. As with 20 week scans nothing is 100.

I had my 12 week scan at 14+1, and the sonographers said it was too early to see. She had a good look but just couldn't tell.
I don't think I personally would take that as the gender. But then again I'm always iffy over the 20 week scan too. Once I see babies bits in all their 4D glory at 28 weeks I am finally fully convinced haha.

To me it looks like a little stump, there aren't testicles formed but I heard they don't drop down from the body just yet anyway. Just people telling me it's a penis and I didn't realise there could be a penis there at 13 weeks

Hiya
I know you want to stay team yellow for a bit longer, but to answer q about how early you can find out - there are now private blood tests that can tell from 11 weeks. We had the Harmony test at 11 weeks to test for chromosonal problems & that can also test for gender. We asked them to hold back the gender results from us & then after 20 wk scan we contacted the private clinic and had them send out the full results to us & that confirmed scan. This is our first & knowing gender is helping us bond & prepare but I totally understand people wanting to stay team yellow too - all the best xx
