How far in advance should I send out baby shower invitations?

How far in advance did you all send out your baby shower invitations? I'm kinda dreading a baby shower anyway, but my mom wants me to have one... I think just for the fun factor in it for her, the planning, and decorating and such Did anyone not have a baby shower, or not want to have one?

My baby shower is April 22nd and I sent the invites out yesterday. Mainly because the RSVP date is a week before the shower, so I figured they would have a month to RSVP.

I feel you on the baby shower though, I really don't like being the center of attention so Im dreading that quite a bit, but I do like the fact Ill get lots of things for LO. Lol.

I'd try to do 3 weeks with RSVP at a week before. I'm not having a baby shower - second baby here - plus my MIL decided to offer me one but waited until about 2 days ago to ask LOL - so I just feel it is kind of late at this point. We already have most of what we need. So we're going to do a meet the baby party instead about 2 weeks after baby is born. I like the idea of controlled visitation in this matter - and the fact that it is at someone else's home ha.

At least a month before so people have time to prepare. RSVP a week before.

Yeah, I hate to bethe center of attention, and I already dread people touching my belly, and I know there will be alot of that, but yeah I do want the presents for her, lol.

Oh yes! The belly touching, I didnt even think about that Its like a magnet for everyone! Haha. I really dont even like my mom touching my belly let alone anyone else.

I'd say send them out about a month before your shower. My shower is April 15, and my invitations are being sent out later this week. And my RSVP date is April 2. I thought it was cutting it a little too close for people to RSVP, but most people know the date already anyways.

I read that 4-5 weeks notice was appropriate to give people time to RSVP and check out the registry (if you have one). I believe mine were sent out 4 weeks in advance, and they asked that people RSVP no later than a week before the shower date.
