I waited three weeks, my doctor said it was okay to drive then! He initially said it had to be six weeks, but he shortened it, thankfully! Haha, there's no other way to get abouts than to drive!
My doctor advised 3 weeks. I waited 3 weeks but mainly because I had some internal damage from the surgery and it was taking its sweet time to heal. My friend waited 1 week but she ended up having problems with her incision until 8 months post partum.
My hubby wouldn't let me get behind the wheel until i was 6 weeks.
Im not sure if you need a doctor certificate to say you can drive before the 6 weeks especially if your car insurance says you might not be covered without it the certificate. If you do have an accident you could be badly injured purely because you have been cut open and the wound hasn't had time to heal properly
The first three times i waited til 6 weeks, but this time it was almost 4 weeks.
"They" say you just have to wait until you can comfortably sit in the car wearig your seatbelt and twisting in your seat as you do to reverse etc. Also, that you would be okay doing an emergency stop and not feel like you were going to spill your guts into the footwell.
At the hospital I was told 4-6wks and when I rang my insurance there was nothing in my policy about it so I could have driven anytime.
I havent as yet though as Im still in quite a bit of pain and Elim will be 6wk tomorrow (saved me a fortune in petrol and those 'nipping to the supermarket for milk and spending £20' moments lol)
6 weeks for me - but then I had a nasty infection and there was no way I was up to driving. As someone mentioned, if you feel well enough, still make sure you check with your ins as it can be invalid (all surgery - not just CSs) x
My friend was told by her insurance company to wait 6 wks.
I phoned mine and they said as long as you are fit to drive then whenever you want. Think its the emergency stop thing - make sure you can stamp your feet hard on the ground. Try jumping up and down digging feet into the floor.
It depends on how your feeling/healing. but also your insurance. my insurance said i wasnt covered until 6weeks after major surgery. which included c-sections. x
