I had my sweep on the friday and went into labour the sunday.
But my sweep failed as she couldnt even reach my cervix..
So what ever she did worked.. Either that or all the potholes i kept driving over.
Xx
My sweep done nothing for me. & I was very favorable and looked promising but still nothing... I ended up going in to be induced, but when they checked me I was nr on 4cm(hadn't had a contraction or nething) & my waters bulging so they just broke my waters for me. Good luck - They do say 48hours, and if nothing happens then it hasnt worked xx
I was in slow labor and had a sweep on the tuesday afternoon, progressed into established labor thursday afternoon and had LO friday afternoon. Good luck xxxx
After my sweep I was having full on contractions (5 mins apart) an hour and a half later, my daughter was born 7 hours later, my midwife was very proud of herself as I don't think they usually work so fast and often don't work at all.
I had one on the friday, i was already 2cm when she did it but nothin i had a few pains and cramps afterwards but they say thats normal. I had another sweep at 1pm on the monday, was still 2cm and mw said if that didnt work then the only thing that would was sex. I started havin contractions almot straight away but didnt tell OH just it was nothin. They started gettin closer together about 4 hours later so i told him we dtd at 10pm and then straight after i had my show and contractions got to 3mins apart straighy away. My advice dtd after your sweep just for extra luck xx
At my last MW app I was booked in for a sweep on valentines day (nice hehe!) but I never reached that date. The MW did say though that if nothing has happened within 24-36 hours then it hasn't worked.
Had my sweep on the wed, at 41+3 and had lo on the sat, depends how flavouable your cervice is. I was already 2cm dilated. My advise would be to keep active after sweep, i done so much walking, and luckily escaped induction x good luck
I never ended up needing my sweep... i had mine booked for the sunday when i would have been 40 weeks but went into natural labour on the friday.
I have heard that they can be very uncomfortable and dont often work. If they do work something should happen within about 24-36 hours after.
UPDATE** i had my sweep at 1pm and i had cramping and back ache for about 2 and a half hours it was very uncomfortable but it was good because i was 2 cms (can be stretched to 3 cms) and waters were intact and she felt baby's head...lost mucus plug b4 i had it and loosing small bits of plug atm and tiny bit of blood...nothing too worrying tho..pains have subsided..feeling wierd tho in my pelvis xx
I had 2... my first was on tuesday (I think) and I started losing my plug on thursday (at 41+3) and I started having mild contractions on & off, but all throughout the day.... In the evening they even got worse and thought I was going into labour, had regular contractions every 4 minutes for an hour, but then they got irregular again. I had another sweep on the friday (41+4) my cervix was still posterior and quite thick/long and I was only 1cm dilated, but it was starting to efface (thin out). MW didn't think I'd be going into hospital that night though.... but she didn't think I'd need the induction on saturdaynight (41+5 at 9pm) either.
And on that saturday when I was supposed to be induced that evening I got really bad contractions, and went into hospital around 7pm - so 2hrs before I was supposed to be in for induction.
Didn't have our little man till sunday night though, as everything was progressing really slowly! Stayed the night in hospital, with some gas&air to help me get some sleep...
