How long did your sweep take to kick in?

id one on my due date a monday........didnt work
so they gave me one 5 days over at midnight on the sat + bam! i gave birth to my dd on sunday afternoon :)

Thanks :) the pains arnt reli so bad anymore i hope it has still worked.... my notes are confusing tho do u know what these mean?

dilation 2cm stretching to 3 cm
length 1-2 cm
consistency average
position slightly posterior
level -2 above spines

xx

It means your cervix is 2-3cm dilated (you know what that means right??)
The length of your cervix is 1-2cm, so quite thick still - will thin out with contractions & dilation.
Not sure what consistency: average means...
Position is slightly posterior that means you still have a bit to go to get it anterior, which means it kinda moves forward (if that makes sense)
Level = how far down the cervix is, has to do with your baby's head, if the head isn't all the way (As far as it could be) down then your cervix won't be all the way down either... Can't remember exactly what it's supposed to be ideally though...

But to me it seems like you're going in the right direction and it won't be too much longer! My cervix went from 2cm dilated to 8cm in about a day and then from 8 to 10 in about half an hour...

ah thats gr8 to know :D thanku and yes i know what dilation is i was jus wondering about the thickness ! i hope this sweep has worked...is it best to go for a walk or rest? xx

Second sweep I had LO 24 hrs later

i was due a sweep on the Weds but my labour started about 1am that same day! i was really dreading that sweep too - perhaps my worrying brought on labour :)

an hour....then 30 hours of contractions and pop comes the baby!!!!

I'd say it's best to go for a walk... They told me to walk through the hospital when I was in, cause they wanted to break my waters but baby's head wasn't far enough down to do it.... Walking up & down stairs (sideways) works aswell - apparently...
I couldn't really be bothered to walk round though as I was already having (what at the time seemed like) quite bad contractions, so had to stop every so often to let the contraction pass and I didn't walk very fast either... Oh and the fact that it was like midnight and in a hospital, so there was no one around and the shop was closed...couldn't even get drinks....

I had 3 sweeps and my waters broken but still had to be induced by drip!!!

Never! I had on on the thursday - they said it was 'sucessful' but nothing happened. They tried again on the monday but they said the cervix wasn't in the right place or something like that. They tried one on the 1st of feb - but had to tell them to stop she really hurt.... in the end they induced me. I was only 39 + 3 when induced (due to high bp was 169/133 when I was in labour)

I know many others have had one and it has been sucessful, with many having bubs within 48 hours.
