How long does it REALLY take to TTC - the truth, let's hear it

Hi Everyone, I wanted to open a thread were real women can tell us their stories about how long it REALLY takes to TTC. I know people who seem to rub shoulers with their OH and get pregnant and I know some who are still trying ! I went on the internet and they say that 60% get pregnant within 6 months, 75% in 9 months and 80% in 1 year and 90% in 1year and a half...

But we want to hear real stories from real women, how long did it take you or someone you now to conceive? Share your stories with us, we want to hear them !

Im at 21 months and still trying!!
All my friends that i know were TTC, got preg before 6 months!!

So i voted for the 6 months one x

All of my friends were pregnant immediately and all "by accident". One of them even said she fell pregnant right as her period was on the last day, and the other two with current bumps said they fell pregnant a couple of days after their AF's!

Well I can only offer my experience and the truth is TTC has guzumped me, when I began reading conception books and read about how every little last detail had to come together perfectly in order to concieve it sounds more like making a nuclear bomb not a baby?!?!? but it has made me think that maybe there are factors that help and hinder. I am 30 now and when DH and I got together around 5 yrs ago things got serious pretty quickly and we ended up living with my parents for a bit to save some money to rent our own home, we were happy contented and stress free our only major decision making was where we were eating that weekend, we had lots and lots of sex and after only 1 month of having sex coupled with the fact I was on Microgynon but had been poorly with a stomach bug the previous month- I fell pregnant! I was totally baffled! Sadly I miscarried at 10 weeks but as you can imagine DH and I never dreamed that concieving would ever therefore be an issue. Fast forward 5 years we are still blissfully in love and still have an active sex life, but we also have stresses, a mortgage, I have a stressful job as a teacher DH as a financial advisor, and we have financial obligations. 14 months of ttc with predictor kits, charting, vitamins etc and BFN every month! It really makes no sense- sorry I can offer any help as such- thats just my story! xx

Great thread! When I get my BFP I will complete the poll lol but really interested to see what people say-we are on cycle 10 ttc-1st month on clomid-all test results come back 'excellent' so nothing wrong as far as we know...My FS said that 95% of couples ttc will get pregnant in 2 years and that sometimes it really can just take a while....pretty good stats and I just hope we dont fall into the 5%-good luck all x

Thank you ladies for sharing... This really gives a lot of encouragement to know that it could take a long time, that some women have conceived after 12 or 24 months of TTC
...

Oh sure-to be honest its the only thing that keeps me sane knowing that it can take this long-there are a couple of threads I am on which a lot of the ladies are approaching 12 months or over and getting BFP's. My FS said its like rolling a dice sometimes and that some of us take longer to roll that 6 than others-I for one hope I roll it damn soon!!! x

Can I ask were these with the same partner? Did they say why you had to have IUI then conceived after naturally? I have always hoped for large family (3 or 4) but worried about even getting one at the mo as I am 29 in May! x

We started trying (ie, I stopped taking the pill) in January of 2010 and I got my bfp towards the end of July/early August. So it took us about six months.

First one 2 month months
Last pregnancy took 8 months, but i didnt have any cycles for most of that, once i got my cycle back it was 2 months (lost baby at 11 weeks)
so hoping that i get a cycle back and will be 2 months again
