How long does it REALLY take to TTC - the truth, let's hear it

We've been tryin for 3 1/2 years, my cycle on average is 34 days and we're still ttc #1 . Hoping for my bfp soon .

From looking at this thread it looks like it's totally random...... some people it takes 1 month for there 1st and a year for there 2nd it's crazy x

1st month of trying for our first baby, and I think it lulled me into a false sense of security! We've been trying again since she turned 1, but without much hope as I've not had AF since November 2008!

Aged 39 - conceived 2nd month of trying, miscarried at 11 weeks after seeing baby's heartbeat on the scan.
Aged 40 - conceived 2nd month of trying, miscarried at 8 weeks.
Now TTC again with proper timing since October 2010, now on 4th month, no luck yet, put it down to having a broken heart.

Now as of today I've thrown in the towel, I'm 42 in February. I'm leaving it to God, the universe, nature, the baby, basically anyone else but me cos I am going in search of something very important that I have lost along the way - my smile. Babydust all round. x

I am starting my 5th month after stopping B/C. Only one month of actually using OPKs and cycling. Hopefully this will be the month. Going to try preseed and softcups.

i voted 18 simply because im currently at 28 months and havent had much more than a late period...ttc sucks..i hate it...i wish i could stab it with a fork...lol

4 months but having properly read the 'what it takes to make a baby' chapter in my pregnancy book I am amazed that anyone ever gets pregnant ever! I knew the basic principles obviously but blimey!

Last time, 3 cycles for me - but 4 months, as I was irregular from coming off the pill

This time, I've just ovulated for the 3rd time since trying! - so fingers crossed 3 months this time, but who knows!

I know 3 months is no huge amount of time, but everyone else in my family seems to just get a wink from OH and they're pregnant!

not yet, we just got insurance a few months ago, and i moved cities, plus we will PCS to somewhere in the world (literally, ANYWHERE in the world, germany, japan, europe, anywhere in the US...) so we are trying to decide whether to wait until we move again or to go ahead...i will be seeing the GP within the next week to talk about it.

Conceived #1 on first cycle but miscarried at 6 weeks and then conceived my son 2 weeks later! So that was all fine and dandy but now I have this mentality that getting pregnant is a piece of cake! DH and I are trying for #2 right now and I'm on my first cycle so we'll see what happens. I hate to say it but I'll probably be disappointed if we're not successful right away because I've never known it to not happen immediately. That being said, I'm trying to ground myself by saying that on average it does take a few tries and nothing is wrong with myself or DH if things don't 'fall into place' right away.

With my #1 it was totally unplanned, albeit a pull-out method, little boy - which ended in m/c @ 8 wks.

With my current DBF we had been NTNP for almost 2 years and this is our 2nd month TTC, first with me properly charting as last month I lost my thermometer *oops* Hehe. So I feel like this has been a looooong road already, as I've been thinking baby from around the 6 month mark or our relationship. So for me it feels like forever. Although charting, temping, OPKs, checking CM and CP... definitely adds a whole new level of stress to the mix. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I'm predicting it'll take us about a year, I'm giving it 6 months until I really start getting into anything heavier than trying to properly time BD.

I got pregnant with my first the first month off the pill

the second time it took 9/10 months - i didnt even ovulate the first 6 months grrr

I conceived without trying twice, but i was a spring chicken then. Last time i got pregnant after 7 months but took 9 months to get a sticky one.

I haven't voted and I will when I am preggers (IF I am preggers) I have been trying for 3 months (this is my third)... We were NTNP for 10 months though and I can't say with any certainty that we ever in my fertile period so I am only classing the journey so far as 3 months

I'm pretty positive we'll get there plus ttc is quite fun (especially with my OH when we factor in Conceive Plus ) I hope that it only takes a year though...
