How long should you take agnus castus for?

I'm going to start taking agnus castus next cycle with a view to help me ovulate earlier in cycle. What I'm wondering is....say that happens and I ovulate earlier will my ovulation date continue to be round about that date or will I revert back to my late ovulation date once I stop taking agnus castus?

Do I have to take agnus castus every cycle in order to ovulate earlier, or once it's regulated is it regulated forever?! Is there any reason I shouldn't stay on AC for long?

I think you have to keep taking it hun, every cycle, all through the cycle- Im no expert though!

Just stop if you get a BFP as you cant take it during pregnancy (or so ive been told)

hi,ive just started on it today to,i have long irregular perods and dont ovulate.it has good reviews so thought i would try it.i read you shouldnt take it when your on a period,take it after bleeding stops till next af etc.thats what im going to do.also my dose is 20mg a day in tablet form since dont like drops.how much u taking?hope it works for us girls!all the best

hi hun, im on the 400mg capsules of agnus castus and I take up until ovulation then leave till next cycle as Ive heard it can cause contractions which is not good for conception. Some people advise differently. I take two 400mg capsules a day (800mg) although the bottle says to take 4 x 400mg per day. I also use B50 complex all way throughout cycle. Im trying to regulate cycle after MC.

hi girls,

I only take the AC (kira brand) from 1st day of a/f up until +OPK (it can cause uterine contractions so must not be taken if pregnant). I also take B50 complex thoughout my cycle. Like fluffy blue this was to help regulate my cycles after mmc and now my cycles have gone from 35days (oving on day 23) to 26 days (oving on CD11). I started taking the vits in may so you can check out my charts to see how it has worked for me.

Hi chanel,im using ac kira brand from boots to.i am taking one pill a day with a meal,is that what you are taking to?i read somewhere that this is a small dose but it says dont exceed one pill per day?im really confused!i have never got a BFP since i have ovulation problems,im not sure to take all cycle or not since i dont know when or if i ovulate at all?any help would be really appreciated,i am trying to lose weight also since bmi is 36 at the mo.hope you all get your bfps soon.

hi rani, the dose on the kira does seem small but it worked great for me.. i just take one a day with my main meal.

In order to determine when i ov i use opks, so i stop taking the AC as soon as i get a positive. I think that if you fall pregnant and continue taking the AC is causes uterine contractions which i take to mean that it would bring on your period which is why to stop it at ov as that is the time you would become pregnant.

If you have regular cycles then i would stop taking the AC 14 days before your next period is due.

Hi there, I had always read good things about ac, however I am convinced that it has made my ov later and shortened my LP.

I know most people say good things about it however it ha definitely not been good for me.

I just thought I would add this, not to put you off, but rather all I read was good stuff and I am not not sure it works for everyone. XXX

hi modo,i think it depends on each indivual how it works,but most people notice a difference after i-2 months,some take longer.are you taking holland and barrett ones?i started taking mine 2 days ago and its only one tablet,im taking kira ac from boots.x

you should ask your doctor about it. personally I'm against anything done by yourself to regulate cycles.

Sorry for your loss. I definitely would not recommend Agnus Castus - it seriously mucked up my periods. If you search my posts you will see the details.
