I've made 2 bottles up for tonight. I have been making them from fresh until now. Lo is on 4oz. How long shall I heat it for in the microwave, or shall I heat it in a pan of water? Xx

it depends how warm your LO likes it if im honest. & how powerful your microwave is.

my LO had hers at room temp so 15seconds in our microwave did the trick for 4oz.

try 15 seconds & shake & test, then try 10 second bursts until you get it right. x

Totally agree. I heat our 7oz for 30sec in a low powered microwave, give it a really good shake and test it.

It's worth shaking it and testing it again just before you give it to LO because liquids heated in a microwave continue to get warm after they have been removed from the oven which is why it says to "leave for a minute after cooking" on a lot of microwave meals.

i do an Avent bottle with 4 oz, from room temp and i do it for 25 seconds (which by the time LO has had his nappy changed) is perfect, so Id suggest about 20 secs, but like the other lady suggested just try, shake, test, until you get it right xx

I was told not to heat bottles in the microwave as can cause hot spots To save time on the heating I used microwave to heat my water, usually two cups, really quickly and then popped the milk bottle in the water to heat. Or I made my bottles to order as we don't have the hot water advise in the us like the other countries.

Try just 10 second bursts to find the right temp.
Also take the 'top' (lid, teat, ring) of the bottle off when microwaving otherwise you could burn LOs mouth.
Give it a really really good shake, get rid of any hotspots x

I've never used the microwave to heat bottles, I just put the bottle in a jug full of boiling hot water instead but I imagine this takes longer lol xx

mine take 40 secs in mam bottles for 7 oz shake well and test!

Thanks ladies, I've cracked it now. I do 20 secs, shake and then another 10 secs. I have always took the lid and teat off as I thought it might burn lo mouth. Thanks for replying. Xx

It is reccommended to never warm bottles in microwave because it doesn't warm evenly like hot water does and so can cause unknown hot spots.
