How many milk feeds does your 7/8/9/10 month old have?

When and how should I reduce them? I've been reading a few threads in the weaning and nutrition section and now I'm thinking my LO is drinking a hell of a lot of milk. She has 3 BFs and 4 or 5 4-6oz bottles in 24 hours... Is that heaps?

She also eats three solid meals a day though she throws most of it :haha:

How many milk feeds does your LO have? How many hours in between and when did you start reducing their milk, was it just when they stopped finishing bottles?

F is 7.5mths and was an early weaner. He has 6ozs at 7.30am and 7.30pm and 5ozs at 3.30pm. We dropped down from 4 bottles at 6mths. The recommendation is between 18-21ozs at this age once they are on 3meals and according to my hv after 6mths cheese, yogurt etc. counts in their milk total. In addition to his 17ozs in bottles he has 3oz in porridge, 2-3oz in a white sauce most days, plus yogurt and cheese. Remember your lo probably isn't having filling meals yet, so milk is still the main part of their diet and they could be having milk as a drink, not just as food. HTHs

Yeah she doesn't manage to eat much solid food at the moment so I guess this amount of milk is needed.

Thanks very much, Notnic :)

We have just dropped the 11am feed in the last few days and i brought her lunch forward to 11.30am. She was only taking 3oz at 11am and wasnt asking for it. She seems happy with an earlier lunch now. She was only taking 3oz at 3pm too so since lunch has been earlier shes finishing 7oz at 3pm instead of only drinking 2-3oz.
