My little one is 2 weeks old and she is taking from 2oz to 4 oz per feed (every three hours) She is the smallest baby i have had so i am a bit stressed about the whole thing, what is your/ did your 2 week old take per feed? xx

If I remember correctly, my son took 4oz (or a bit more) every 3 hours. He was a large baby, though. The amount you mention sounds perfectly normal, and I'm sure if it's not enough, your baby will let you know. :)

Thank you, that's the problem she is a bit jaundice, it makes them lethargic and with her being so tiny anyway i am just a bit stressed by it all. Thank you for your input, makes me feel better. x

My LO is also two weeks and has been taking between 3-4oz every 3-4 hours although occasionally he only manages 2oz. He's had great weight gain though. He was born 7lb 2oz and when he was weighed yesterday he was already 8lb 9oz. Don't worry too much. It seems quite normal to me anyway plus baby will eat when she is hungry.

If I remember correctly 2-4 oz is what my DS took at that age. He ate about every 2-3 hours as well. Every baby is different though. I also fed him when he wanted, I never schedualed him.

You mentioned your LO was slightly jaundiced? I don't know where you live or if it's even feezable for the weather your getting but Sunlight helps ALOT with jaundice. Sunlight helps them break down the biliruben in their blood/skin. My son had it too. Luckily I had him in June so we spent a decent amount of time everyday outside in the sun (obviously not direct sun). Between the sun and eating well there was a pretty significant increase within the week.

My baby is 6 weeks old, 9lbs. She was born at 6lbs 1oz and she only eats about 2 oz every few hours. Tons of wet and poopy diapers and she's gaining weight properly. I wouldn't worry too much sounds like your LO is eating great!

Hello, thanks for your reply x Isobel is now taking 4oz minimum and up to 5 1/2 oz xx Much happier now xxxxx

I think she knows best so I would just go with it. I would say mine was probably 1-2oz per feed every 3 hours. We were mostly BF at that point, but some of that was expressed. She didn't take 4 oz (formula) until probably closer to 8-10 weeks. But all babies are different. Mine was small (6lbs 90oz at birth) and never a big eater until she started on solids.

My 33 weeker preemies are 14 weeks old, both almost 11lbs and only have 2-4oz every 2-3 hours during the day and at night they sleep 6 hours then 4 hours, still only drinking between 2-4oz at those feeds as well. They've stuck to this amount for almost 8 weeks! They are gaining weight well. I was worried about them not increasing their intake at firsy, but their pediatrician says they are still meeting their minimum daily quota. Sounds like you LO has started taking more now, I expect mine will surprise us one day and want more than 4oz...which means the next size up in bottles too
