im really quite worried about how little alice is drinking. she was put on gaviscon last week for reflux after she was refusin to drink bottles and screaming through them. theres been no more screamin so thats good bu shes still drinking hardly anything.
she was on 5oz bottle at 6 weeks drinking them all. now over 11 weeks old she drinking this amount ( il tell you this todays intake)
7am 2oz
10.30am 2oz
1.30pm 3oz
5.30pm just under 5oz
7.30pm 2oz
and then she went to sleep

some days she doesnt even drink 1 full bottle so she will only drink 2 or 3 oz
i normally give her a bottle about 10.30 and she will drink 3 or 4 and she wont even wake up in the morning hungry.
this isnt enough is it
14oz so far today 18oz if she will have another tonight. she was drinkin more than double at 6 weeks. im gettin her weighed again on wednesday to check shes putting on enough weight but its still worrying me. there advice was maybe she having an off day but its been almost a month. is there any explanation.

edit- i have tried different bottles and a different size teat. when she refuses to drink she just plays with it in her mouth. she did have thrush ages ago and it all went and shes had no more signs x

I'm sure I've read that gaviscon can make babies feel fuller - perhaps that's the cause of the problem? Is she still pooing and weeing ok? I think it can also cause constipation, and when their bums are bunged up babies tend not to be very hungry either.

I haven't had to deal with reflux, but have you explored any other options that might help other than gaviscon? Or perhaps there are things you can do alongside to help? Maybe a chat with HV or doctor would help?

If you don't think she's drinking enough, or if she is constipated it might be worth offering some cool boiled water. Even just a few sips will help keep her hydrated and keep her bowels moving too.

I've been having some trouble with feeding my DS lately, and have been experimenting to see if anything helps. We've found that he'll mess about if the bottle is quite cool, but if we offer it warmer (as in on the borderline of being too hot) he'll happily finish the lot.

My doctor told me that as long as you're still geting plenty of wet and some dirty nappies, and they remain alert and reasonably content, it shouldn't be serious.

she isnt constipated but they are quite hard. il try give some waer it seemed to help before when she had it. she is still weeing and pooing he same though. i just really doesnt sem enough when she was drinking moe when she was younger. thanks for you help though x

I took Anna to get weighed last week as she had droppped her night feed and was not making up for it by taking more during the day.

Anna was taking about 20oz a day last week - HV said thats fine.

This week she is taking more and has took 25oz a day for last few days.

As long as your LO is acting same as usual etc and wet nappies too.

Do go get her weighed tho - like I did as I was worried, but Anna is gaining weight steadily like usual:flower:

shes always been on the line so hopefully shes still getting enough. im taking her 2moz to get weighed n il let you no xx

:hugs: Hope all is ok

Maybe she isnt drinking it because it tastes different with the gavison as in she can taste the gavison and doesnt like it (i dont know if it does taste the same wouldn't try lol)

Matthew's poo's are soft but very solid looking iykwim because of the gavison and he did reduce the amount he drank but only for a day or so til he got used to the gavison

you wouldnt think it was so difficult for them to drink lol. shes had 15oz today and shes now in bed. il give her another about 10 while shes asleep because she seems to drink atleast 4 or 5. i gave her an oz of water and it really helped her go :D xxx
