Hey ladies

I just have a quick question.

OH and I have recently split and I'm staying between our flat and my Mums until I'm rehoused (could be ages :-( ) I know I can't apply for tax credits as a single person until I actually move out into my own place.

I did the calculator to see what I'd get anyway and it says I'll get £190 a week. Surely this can't be right?? That seems loads, I thought I would struggle but with that plus CB, maintenance and my SMP I should be fine.

I work 21hours a week and last year made less than 8000 but 13 weeks was SMP so I think they only count 6700 as my income? And this year 39 weeks will be SMP and I'm only going back 16 hours so my earnings will be way down.

Can anyone with 2 kids who works tell me how much tax credits you get and how much you earn if you wouldn't mind answering?
xx

I'm not sure but I can tell you when I was living with just my daughter I was working 17 hours a week, on a minimum wage job and between WTC and CTC I got £610 a month. That's not including the childcare side of it all.

It's a lot more than you'd ever expect it to be if you're working over 16 hours a week.

I don't know how much you'd get, just wanted to say you can still apply for tax credit as a single parent while living at your mum's. I lived with my family for nearly 18 months while getting TC as a single parent, it's what I was told to do by HMRC

I am not sure what it will be for 2 kids but for myself and DD I get 202 PW for CTC and WTC. I work 18hrs pw and this includes childcare. I think you can apply now as a single parent if you are at your mums xx

that prob is right i get 62pw ctc and im on maternity with last yrs income 18000, ud be suprised how well u can get. also if u hurry and apply for tax credits u will also get the 500 sure start maternity grant x
