HPT experiment - does the test line get fainter as HCG reaches really high levels?

I also tried this today and it works!! I did an ic then diluted the sample (about 75% water) and the line was much darker! How odd!

thats great i had heard after a number of weeks the body doesnt make as much hormone as the baby palcenta takes over and hense the tests get lighter.. i maybe wrong but sure i read it somewhere lol
good luck in your pregnancies

hey charmed no ur right hun i tested at 8-9 weeks with this one and barley even had a line and it was at same time i sickness started to fade and i felt bit better so i assumed that hcg was dropping as placenta was starting to work or the hook effect one of the 2 lol xxx

I know this is really old, but i just wanted to say its been really helpful! Iv kept testing, and i heard that at some point the lines would get lighter, and i wanted to know when to expect it as otherwise id absolutely panic!! So thanks!! :)

On the reverse, I think this is usefull if one isn't getting a positive - I have been testing since April with no luck - I diluted wee about 1:10 water and we both saw a faint line -I felt so relieved (it did vanish after a while though) I have ordered some more tests from ebay and will be setting up a mini lab testing with other concentrations - husband wants to be very scientific about it - he is doing a PhD and can measure liquid in microns lol (I think thats what he said).

With the hook effect, it will not pick up hcg levels if they are too high, I have been told by a nurse that there was a lady who had been continually testing negative - they checked her hcg levels and they were 65,379(ish) rather than 0-5, the test therefore couldn't pick it up - turns out she was having triplets.I have also heard about other people who never got positives and found out by chance at 17 weeks or so. Just wonder if anyone else has heard of this? I have been looking into science papers about this and it does exist :)
