Has anyone had this test done? I'm looking for advice regarding this test.. the doctor told me it's just a test however I have been told by friends they ended up pregnant after this... I'm still up in the air if I want to do it considering one already had one pregnancy

It's a good idea to do the test even if you've had a child before because things could have changed after your pregnancy. Childbirth complications, infections, endometriosis, etc., can all cause damage to tubes after childbirth.

It's not usually a pleasant procedure, but it's necessary if you haven't had one done before. And yes, lots of women do get pregnant afterward, so that's a little bit of consolation.

I just had one done on Friday. It was a little painful but not unbearable. I've heard about the added fertility. It just kind of clears everything out.

I had one done back in March. I found it pretty painful but certainly not unbearable. I took some advil beforehand and I'd recommend taking something if you can. This particular test is good for discovering if you have blockages in your tubes and to make sure your uterus is the right shape etc. It unfortunately did not catch that I had a uterine polyp. I had an additional sonohysterogram (water ultrasound of the uterus) and that identified my polyp. I would definitely recommend getting the test done, if only for the peace of mind.

I had an hsg in fall of 2015. I have heard talk of increased fertility for three months after, but I was not one of the lucky ones who fell pregnant in that time. I found the procedure painful, but not unbearable. I made the mistake of reading stories online of other ladies who said that their hsg was the most painful thing they have experienced! I can honestly say that was not the case for me, but I worked myself up so much that my Dr gave me a prescription for anxiety meds to take before. If you are nervous, they helped a ton. That being said, it definitely helped me stop stressing about my tubes being blocked, as this was one of my biggest worries.

I had an HSG last year. It wasn't the most pleasant experience, but it gave me piece of mind knowing that at least one of my tubes were not blocked. It mostly felt like cramping while it was being performed. The increased fertility is mostly due to the fact that when they inject the dye to take x rays the fluid is pushed through your fallopian tubes and it may clear out obstructions. I was not one of the lucky ones to get pregnant.
