LO's 6 weeks old and is having 180ml every 2 hours, according to the C+G box he's only meant to be having 120ml every 4! :dohh:

i want to start him on hungrier baby milk but i've been told rumours by the MW saying it only puffs out their stomach and makes them look full but i'm sure this isn't true, but then there's always a little incling saying that she might be right...

has anyone else heard this rumour?

I wouldnt say it "puffs out" their stomach but it stays in their stomach for longer as hungry baby milk is harder to digest. Hungry baby milk has the same calories and fat etc as first milk but contains proteins that take longer for a baby to digest so they go longer between feeds.
The guide on the tin is just a guide and shouldnt really be a factor in your decision to swap to hungry milk.
There is a growth spurt at 6 weeks so once this settles down you may find that he starts to go longer between feeds.
If I was in your siutation I would try and persivere with first milk for a bit longer and see how he goes. x

What it also says on the packs are that every baby is different and feed on demand...:flower: I would just continue as is....

Keep him going, from about 3 weeks Jason was on 5oz every 3 hours.. Don't listen to the box, every baby is different, Jason is on Hungrier Baby milk and that's because he was taking 7-8oz every 3 or so hours, sometimes less. I heard it's designed more for babies taking 8-9oz very frequently

I put my LO on hungry milk 2 weeks ago as 1st milk just wasn't feeding him he would want a feed every 2 hrs and be really fussy between feeds.

My 11 week old still feeds every 2-3 hours on the first milk, the guide is just that hun a guide. As long as he is gaining weight and seems content between feeds then it's fine :) Oliver is feeding every hour during the day at the moment but he is on a growth spurt, they tend to go through grwoth spurts at 6 weeks too x

Every baby is different hun, your baby should be eating roughly 2.5oz for each pound of body weight per 24hrs. So if u calculate the daily amount and then divide it by amount of feeds per day and u should be able to see roughly if he is over eating. My little man was eating way more than the tin said too xx

i thought it just took longer to digest.
we put LO on hungry baby for the evening feed as she was utterly insatiable. seems to have worked and she is a very happy STTN baby at 11 weeks (NOT saying you should use baby to get them thru the night...at end of the day you know if your baby is hungry or not)
