Just wanted to know again why hungry baby formula is not very good to give your baby? is it really that bad to give? I was combi feeding but now my lill girl wont BF from me so its formula mostly (im still trying to bf) any way iv just had a delivery of shopping and by mistake they have put a couple of hungry infant milk in. My baby is sick a lot, whether its BM of Formula so was thinking maybe give this hungry baby milk a go? .... please dont give negative posts about the fact im not BF as i have enough guilt as it is. Many thanks...

There's a different mix of curds and whay in hungry baby formula. This makes it harder to digest, so it stays in the babies stomach for longer which makes baby feel fuller for longer.

So is that really bad? do they get constipated as a result? iv never considered it before as my lill boy was mostly BF until 8 month but this bub is so different so im trying to work out the pro and cons with giving it? as i said my lill girl is sick lots and maybe it wont make a blind bit of difference but thought i might give it a try if its not bad but im sure iv seen bad press on B&B before but cant remember why?

Johnny was eating constantly from 3 months so we switched and it worked great for us. He still put on weight and there was no difference in his nappies, I know some people don't like it but it worked for us! We're weaning now so have switched back. I would say not to mix both formulas so if you start with hungry baby, use that exclusively until you want to switch back :) hope that helped x

The problem with hungry baby milk is it makes your child fuller for longer with out any extra calories. If your LO is being sick lots then i dont think hungry baby will make it any better. Being sick a lot is a sign of reflux or an allergy so i would recommend going to see your HV or GP and they can advise on the best milk to give.

My dd had bad reflux and our doctor recommended hungry milk. She has been on it since 6weeks old, reflux stopped within 4days. She was taking 5oz every 2 hrs. No constipation at all. Its worth a try but i agree with a pp dont mix hungry milk with stage 1.

thanks Lozzy but when i saw HV they said there was not a lot that could help because she would be sick on my BM as well? she is quite a bonny baby so not worried bout her losing weight,in fact i think she has too much, which may be one of the reasons she is sick amongst other reasons? it cant be pleasant for her :nope:thats why i thought maybe just give the hungry milk a go? but of course if it was really bad for her i wouldnt dream of giving it but also aware that being sick all the time isnt pleasant x

I would skip your HV and see your GP, if she does have an allergy, ie CMPI the protein can be transferred via your milk which would make her sick and if it is reflux then she would be sick regardless of what milk she has.

Thanks Lozzy, just wondering if you have any personal experience with this prob? Iv tried hungry baby now and so far its stopped her being sick.If it was reflux, surely she would be in pain? i dont think she is and she isnt losing weight? x

My LO had reflux, she did not seamed in pain or lost weight but would be sick a lot after every feed and was fussy for 40ish mins after a feed.
